If it's any consolation, the radiator support will go back in, but bolted. I didn't have a transmission jack, so through the front seemed like the best option. Was a lot easier than I expected.

Since the W56 is ~4.8" longer than the L52, the crossmember had to be moved. I didn't want to weld anything to the frame and ruin the POR-15, so I made an extension bracket that could be welded to the L52 crossmember.

The '81 has been a shit-show. CliffsNotes version of events-

Due to my residual fuel line routing, I began having starting/running issues near Omaha over Thanksgiving. A local stopped and tried to help and blew out 5th gear, so I've been driving the last 4-5,000 (mostly highway) miles in 4th gear. The L52 is apparently on of the weakest transmissions Toyota ever made. So rather than repairing it, I upgraded to the W56.

I believe sometime during the engine rebuild, I unknowingly put a hairline crack in the timing chain cover, right under where it bolts to the cylinder head.

It steadily became worse, to the point where I was losing roughly 2 quarts every 500 miles. Everything in the engine bay and underneath the truck is completely soaked in oil. Even the recovery shackle in the rear receiver. I think (hoping) due to amount of oil covering everything, I somehow got a bad ground somewhere so my battery hasn't been able to charge. Despite replacing the voltage regulator and the alternator. I've been in the process of cleaning up all the oil, replaced the timing chain cover, in addition to dealing with the issues regarding the new trans.

That in and of itself is the biggest reason I haven't been able to get to the Tacoma lately. It being a half-hour drive away stored in a friend's barn doesn't help either. I'm also actively looking for jobs in Colorado. Hoping to get a certain one, but I'll have to wait until KOH is over to find out for sure.
