I don't know if he enough gas in the tank left now to help a cup contender much. I know he chased it when he was younger a couple of years ago, now though his options are limited. Who really in the top contenders needs Iggy in their top 9?

It's a shame that the Pens misused him, when we got him. He was still a solid player then. I felt like that was a great shot for him. Unfortunately, rentals seem to be less and less of a thing, for a contending team. Getting an older veteran like Iggy, Doan, Jagr etc doesn't make sense on a lot of the faster, transition teams now.

 

I just hope the Oilers don't try for him. It's bad enough that we have that boat anchor Lucic. The only thing that's making me not completely hate him, is that I hear he's a good influence in the dressing room (supposedly) - and if a miracle happens....and the Oilers do make the playoffs - I'm hopeful that Lucic comes alive as a playoff player.
So yeah.......no Iggy please!!!

 

Yeah, if a team like the Leafs knew 100 percent they were in I'd look at Iggy just as a 4th line grinder. Iggy doesn't mind playing dirty and he's a great guy. That's the only hole he might fit in for a playoff team.

I think Lucic is a great player for Edmonton as is Maroon. Big guys who can protect the young/smaller guys like McDavid and RNH. Lucic is one of those players I can't stand but appreciate his role on the team and skill. I fucking hated Wayne Simmonds when he was with LA but to this day will still tune in to watch him play, no matter who the Flyers are playing.

 

I wish I could agree with you - about Lucic. As that was his intended role, when brought aboard. But so far.......he only seems to show his nasty side about once or twice every 6 or 7 games. In between....he's a total ghost!! And I mean GHOST!!! He may as well not even be there.

As I said. I'm told he's a positive presence in the dressing room. And maybe there's a tiny aspect of a threat to other teams, that he portrays. And honestly......if the Oil make it to the playoffs......I'm hoping he comes alive as a real monster then. But so far........BLAAHHHH!!!

As for the 'Big Rig'.......I have nothing but for him!!!

The problem I have with Lucic is when the nasty side comes out it's him tapping guys in the nuts with his stick and not big time physical corner play that he chooses to use to vent his anger.

 

Looch was awesome for the first few years here. Once they won the cup and he got married, he seemed to settle down and now be that beast.

 

... as was I last year. NOPE, he will do nothing to help in the playoffs.

Don't believe it ? ... he had EVERY incentive to produce in LAST years playoffs and didn't. Now he signs long deal and has NO incentive.

Well looks like Andersen forgot how to goalie over the All Star break. Fudge. Ah well, I had a feeling all this time things were too good to be true with this young Leafs team. Hopefully they fall back to a good spot in the draft or Andersen figures his shit out quick and they hang around.
