Agreed. I think power seats, power tailgate lock, passenger side smart keyfob handle, more USB ports, and homelink on anything with Prem Tech package are some of these creature comfort features which should have been included, and will most likely trickle into production in the coming years.

If I didn't want true 4wd (notice I didn't say "need" ...), with low range plus all the OR bells-and-whistles (locker, crawl control etc) I think the Ridgeline seems like a better design independent of the luxury features. Wider bed between wheel wells, as well as slightly longer, and much more versatile seats for packing stuff in the cab actually make the Ridgeline more useful as a truck. And, I actually prefer the Honda's styling vs 3rd gen, though IMO the 1st gen is the best looking of them all (I own a 3rd gen).

I test drove a Ridgeline last summer. Smooth and comfortable ride for sure. Lots of great interior and exterior creature comforts. Obviously I didn't get one and am happy about that.

    Topical story:

Commuting to work and kid drop off this morning with my wife, we drove by a parked RL. Wife says, "that's ugly". I agreed.

But I've also made some mods to my truck like putting on a Pro grill, bigger tires, shell, etc.

For some reason I really wanted to drive my truck this morning but it makes ZERO sense and is highly inefficient to drive my truck basically in downtown Seattle when my wife is going in the same direction with a more efficient car.

But still, I love driving my truck. Especially if I get the chance to spot another Taco owner  Kind of wished I lived on Maui in that regard. The Tacoma game is super strong on that island. Damn.

Anyway, I'm headed up to Mt Baker tomorrow. Looks deep...

You could buy one of these and put a shell on it and you essentially just have the perfect tailgate minivan.
Thats how i would try and sell these things, "the minivan for the guy who doesnt just want to carry his kids around"
I like that you can open the tailgate both ways and i like the cooler function underneath the bed and the lights in the side. The speakers would be cool if your into tailgating and having a covered area in the back that is still made to carry stuff outside of the cab is great.
Honda needs to throw detachable shells on these like toyota sells the toneu covers and market them to a different crowd

Imo, Ridgeline is an SUV with a bed that should be compared to perhaps a Pontiac Aztec. To compare it to a Tacoma just ain't right. Video should have been a Nissan Frontier...

I bought my Tacoma before I could get a Ridgeline. I drove a Ridgeline for an extended period of time and I wish I had waited.

    Just my opinion.

need to learn more about this stuff
i don't put a lot of weight to what a sales guy at a dealership says, but when i was buying my VW sportwagen Tdi, I asked why it didn't have forward and back power seats, it just has the incline/decline of the backrest powered, he said it was because to do that adds a ton more weight. the structure needed to move a 300lb+ person foward and back, up and down, etc is heavy duty material and the small engine to do it adds a lot more weight to a car.

i tried googling how much weight it adds, but couldn't find it anywhere.

if i could add 1 major feature to the tacoma, it would be that the whole back window can roll down. like on tundras. oh man, that would be AMAZING

In the write-up they said it was done on a hot summer day so times are slower, but this is the only way to compare since it was done at the same time.

Comparing midsize truck 0-60 times kinda seems like seeing who can pee the highest on the wall at the old age home.

Let me know when one of these gets near my funcar's ~4.8-5.0 0-60 time.

if you're all about 0-60 stats, then buy a Nissan Z350 instead of a Ridgeline and have some real fun on the road. Tacoma, however, is a different beast than the Ridgeline. Those Hondas are more geared for Saturday's helicopter soccer parents.

Coming from a 4Runner I miss the rear window most.

I've sold a few power seat frames for GM vehicles and they are fairly heavy. Probably 30 to 50 Lbs depending on the vehicle. Of course I've never actually weighed one.

Literally none of those things appeal to me ina vehicle, let alone a truck. kinda glad it doesn't have that.

actually just sat and watched that whole video review. don't know why. slow Friday with work. As much as im sure everything he said was true, how many of you want to use your truck like that guy? in his rolled up jean shorts and V necks. ehhhhhhhhhh. definitely a Ridgeline kind of guy.

Yep. Power seats? Handy sometimes but my experience with them in other vehicles is I get the seat set where I want it and never touch it unless someone else messes with it. The the more ways it can move means more stuff I have to f' with to get it back to where I'm used to... unless it has a memory function.

I wasn't impressed with the back seats in the Ridgeline.

Truck bed audio doesn't happen until nearly top of the line model.

The look of the Ridgeline will never grow on me. Tacomas on the other hand have always looked great. And as a truck, i think we all know what's more capable...

    Photoshop

Though Truxxx does make a 1.5" leveling kit for the front that makes it look so much better. A friend has the new Ridgeline and had the kit installed by the dealer before he picked up the truck along with 265 tires. It makes the truck look so much better. Yes I called it a truck :p....I know that fan boys think it needs a frame to be a truck but with the payload that it can carry it's good enough for me ;). I do need to go places where I need 4 Lo so that is why I bought a Tacoma.
