Reconditioning Vinyl (Roll N Lock) ??

Hey guys, I've always had a full fiberglass tonneau and never a vinyl one. I found someone who will sell me this roll n lock for $350 and I think I'm going to buy it. However, as you can see in the pictures, there is some discoloration and fading. Does anyone who has experience with this/vinyl know if it can be "polished" out with vinyl protectant or armour all? Or is the fading in the picture pretty much permanent. Thanks for the guidance!

 

I had one of these on my truck. It came with some vinyl polish that I use on it regularly. I'm sure any vinyl; polish will be the same. Basically when it looked like the pics you posted, I would give it a nice scrub and it would go away for a bit (about a month or so). I'm not sure about those brownish looking water stains close to the rails though, never had that.
$350 sounds like a good deal. I paid about $1100 for mine new and sold it a couple years later at $650. It was in slightly better condition though.

 

This is what I was kind of expecting....to have to polish frequently to have looking good... May try repainting the rails and top of the case

I haven't seen it in person, but the owner explained to me that those spots were just dirt and that it hasn't been cleaned at all in awhile.

 

Ya if you plan to leave it rolled out covering the bed all the time, you will probably have to clean it often to keep that new look. The stains come back

 

Does that hole concern you at all, as a previous owner?

The owner of this one assured me that the hole doesn't really leak any water into the bed at all. I'm more concerned about the vinyl tearing around the hole.

 

Ehh kind of. I would be concerned about it just getting larger over time not so much about it leaking water.

The problem is with a tear in vinyl I would think it gets larger the more you roll it up. If its towards the tailgate, at least you don't have to roll it all the way back up to access things in the bed. It has a few locking points. If its towards the cab, it will see a lot more wear.
