That's an empty ferry. What time of the year is that? Every time Ive been on it, it's packed full. We usually go in late September or early October when the temps and humidity have dropped, but still warm enough to chill on the beach.

If you don't have to do anything and remain part of the class wouldn't you in effect get a 12 year warranty? Since the original frame inspection for 05-08 has already passed and I would have to think it's unlikely that another one would come along wouldn't we be better off staying part of the class rather than trying at some future point trying to make a warranty claim or sue individually?

In the end after 12 years I might start to think it really isn't Toyota's problem anymore and I honestly have a hard time really arguing that isn't true. I say this because I'm trying to also position myself best since my truck has its original frame, inspected as good and I actively take care of it because I assumed that after the last go-round I was already on my own. So I'm legitimately wondering what is the best course, too.

I had updated my considering opting-out in a later post in this thread (click here)--if your frame is currently sound it probably makes sense to remain in the class...

Yup. I had the CRC treatment done at the dealership on my Tacoma last March. By May it was falling off in 3" chunks. An absolute joke. By late fall of last year, you'd never know it had anything done to it at all. Solid rust from one end to the other on the frame. Body is still solid.

I was skeptical about bringing it in on the day of my appointment. I live in Wisconsin and March is notorious for lots of snow, rain, and slop, as winter's grasp leaves for the season. I drove in to the dealership and my frame was wet, as you'd expect for that time of year. Which begs the question......how does one treat a wet frame. I posed the question as I handed over the keys. I was assured it would be properly dried and prepped prior to the application process. Bottom line, no one will give a shit about your stuff like you will. Anyone that has ever painted anything properly knows that the prep work is 90 percent of the job and weighs heavily on the end result.

I have an off-road front end on the truck, by ARB, which requires the plastic wheel well material to be folded over on the front of the truck and zip-tied out of the tire's path. They never put them back up there once they were done, so in the first ten minutes driving home the plastic rubbed on the tires and was destroyed before I could exit off the highway and turn around.

I've got aftermarket skid plates and rock sliders on the vehicle. The skid plate can be removed in 5 minutes by removing the 6 bolts that hold it in place, just like the stock one. They left all my armor on the truck and just sprayed exposed areas of the frame. Needless to say entire cross members of the truck didn't get any treatment at all. I'm sure the prep work prior to treatment left a bit to be desired......

I noticed this on my next oil change that I was doing myself. I brought it back and was told "we can't go back and treat those areas, as we need a license from the EPA to apply the coating and it has expired." So I said, "hell, if you've still got the stuff back there, can I just have some to take home and I'll do it myself?" He replied, "No, and besides, you'd be better off just going to a local auto parts store and buying some aftermarket rust treatment products, as the stuff we're using isn't that good."

You can't make this shit up. I love it.

Then to top it off, about 2 weeks ago we had to trade in my wife's 2008 GMC Acadia as it was just about to suffer a well-known catastrophic transmission failure. $3500 to repair. We were fortunate to be able to drive it in under it's own power and get 6 grand trade in value on a 2013 Highlander. Over the last few months I had done a ton of work on the Acadia, including, but not limited to: the front and back brakes, new battery, new inner and out tie-rods, front and rear shocks/struts, all new fluids, fixed a power steering leak, and a $900 set of Michelins on it. Couldn't the tranny have crapped out first and saved me half my weekends all summer?

I've just about had it with cars lately. I wished I lived closer to work, I'd peddle my ass there and get in shape to boot.
I also have aftermarket skid plates and r

got my postcard today, actually got 2 of them LOL, I don't expect Toyota to do a damn thing as the leaf recall they told me to pack sand because my leaf packs were collapsed but not broken, the dealer told me to come back if they broke, not wanting to wait for them to break and wanting to actually USE my truck I replaced with OME leaf pack, Toyota said the leaf springs did not qualify as it was not a valid part involving the leaf Recall. I mean why would new leaf springs qualify for a leaf spring recall, silly me!

not sure if I will get a postcard because I just recently updated my account on Toyota.com (Toyota Owners) with new change of address if that's what they go by. Should I hold off upgrading suspension and or lift and Wheels until this is resolved as I will make my opointment this coming week?

Anybody in Colorado got their postcard yet? I called the closest dealership about some other TSB work and they had not heard anything yet, told me it was "too late" to do anything about frame rust. But they are going to give me some TSB leaf springs.

I got mine a week ago. I have 2009 Taco TRD. My question is, can we take them in for inspection now or do we have to wait until the April 27 date when the judge approves the settlement?

I read it as you do nothing unless you had a replacement already done.

Finally included the '07-'08 Tundras and Sequoias. Good for them. Kind of goofy after they knew the '00-'06 Tundras and Sequoias were rotters they didn't do anything then. Next up the later models. Is it more profitable to sell a vehicle at a premium price new, then replace the frame ten years later? Seems like a poor business model but maybe it's a good business model.

April 27, 2017 is the date of a "fairness hearing", currently final judgment is scheduled for June 26, 2017--though that does not mean it WILL happen on that date. Until final judgement is entered, or Toyota begins implementing inspections under the terms of the settlement (the documents state they may start inspections and remedies before final judgement--but don't hold your breath waiting for that), there is nothing to be done.

Most dealers are likely at this time unaware of the suit; and until Toyota tells them about it and authorises inspection and remedy they will not do a thing except tell you they know nothing about it...

I got this post card also. I'm 99% sure it's a crock of the same thing I'm doing while typing this. I bet some clown paid DMV for a vehicle list which is legal and now they are fishing for suckers.
