Good looking truck! I'm just getting going good on mine and still trying to find my way with it the 4 banger adds a challenge when it comes to adding stuff to it. I just did the front bumper and have sliders waiting in the garage for it. Do you have skids under it and how much performance loss have you seen with the armor? I'm trying to make it functional yet keep the weight down. I added the header and that deffinately helped. Welcome to TW by the way I hope you enjoy it here!

Thanks Casper66, I do have Pelfreybilt steel skid plates not shown in the picture. I only put it on when I wheel in rocky terrain. You can definitely feel the truck slow down with all the armor. Imo with front bumper , rear bumper , slider and skid plates on impede the performance by 25%. If I had to do it all over again, I would highly consider front/rear aluminum bumper.

Thanks Gcsteve, I have Stealth Custom Series SR8 all Black 17x8.5 with Cooper ST Maxx 255/80/17. My lift is Icon stage 3.

I've had a hell of a time finding skids nobody seems to want to commit that they will work since they are setup for V6. I'm running the same tires, I've done the air filter and LCE header (that made a nice difference) Just installed an SOS concepts aluminum front bumper, and doing Allpro sliders Saturday. I actually gained performance with the header

Lift, armor and such. Money pit, check out the build thread...

Have you checked out RCI Metal works? @Joshp767

Says it will work on the 4 banger. Stopped by his shop when my old man purchased his full skid set from them, great customer service.

Great choice on the aluminum bumper . The IFS Pelfreybilt and mid skid plate fit without issue on my regular cab. On the rear skid plate, I had to notch a small section at the very end to make it flush with the frame rail. It's because of the frame thumb size rivet. Not a big deal. I just drilled another 1/2" hole right before the notch section straight through the frame rail. Bolt the two there. Not sure if the rivet is in the same location on your truck because yours a Xtra cab...

Let me know if you need picture, I can take some this Saturday or Sunday to better explain the rear skid plate fitment.

My build has an interesting history. The headlights are Morimoto H1 projectors retrofitted in stock housing with angry style eyelids.

I saw you had the flowmaster. I just did the LCE header about a month ago and I have to say very pleased with the results. It really made a noticeable difference. Nice truck I like it lowered and lifted. I would appreciate some more info on this mentioned storm trooper shift knob please as I am also in that category

The shift knob was made by a member on here @benbacher , I'm not sure if he still makes them since this was a few years ago. How hard was the install on the LCE headers?

Not bad at all really. They give you really good instructions. I would read through the instructions a few days prior to the install and start soaking the involved hardware with penetrating oil to aid in a good removal. All parts were provided and it's a really well made product. It literally bolts rt up to your stock exhaust.

What would you say the total install time was? I would do it if I know I could turn it around in a day but I am a little worried that they would have a hard time coming off since they haven't been touched in 12 years.

I took my time but did mine in about 6-7 hours. Mine is a '13 so that probably helped a little but not much since it's spent it's life up here where they salt the crap out of the roads. It's really pretty straight forward.

Seems doable being a Texas truck. What is the difference you are noticing with them on?
