Are you flippin searious? He was driving a 1996 Toyota Camry! There isn't even a CHANCE that they use the same parts on these vehicles. The 1996 Camry didn't even have drive by wire throttle did they?

PS: 15% throttle wont make a Camry do 90. That case is bogus.

+1. It is unfortunate as the false claims will undoubtedly make the problem more difficult to resolve. And now the lawyers are starting to get involved...

I agree whole-heartedly with you on loving this truck and people being annoying about little "issues" with Toyota or just their truck. However when i had my Silverado the worst recall i was involved in had to do with the tailgate cables snapping and last time i checked a snapped tailgate cable never caused a fiery crash. The main issue people have with Toyota is that when they have an issue or a recall it's for a pretty serious issue that they let slip. I'm only putting up with my goofy ass transmission because the people at the dealership "didn't have that problem" when test driving it

No one remembers kids falling out of the back of caravans, or exploding gas tanks on gm's, or the ford explorer tire situation....

    Love my truck!

What is hilarious all the dim wits that can't seem to muster enough intelligence to figure out that a TSB for leaf springs don't mean you got a bad truck
or that a floor mat can bunch up on the gas pedal ( happened to me with more than one vehicle - ( I just pulled it away )

No fan boy about it - just calling it the way it needs called

Stupid hurts and it is supposed to

NEW YORK (CNNfn) - Ford Motor Co. confirmed Tuesday afternoon that it is replacing up to 13 million Firestone-brand tires on its vehicles, doubling the number of tires exchanged in last year's recall.
    #2
On August 9, 2000, Ford Motor Company and Bridgestone/Firestone jointly announced a recall in the United States of approximately 6.5 million ATX, ATXII and Wilderness AT tires made in Decatur, Illinois because of tread separation problems.

13 million tires=3.25 million vehicles from the second recall.....6.5 million tires=1.625 million vehicles from the first...so ur looking at about 5 million cars total

Here is the situation: You buy a 2010 Toyota Tacoma in early 2010. Though you purchased an entirely new vehicle, you now have a vehicle that:

    1) Needs an AAL in the rear because Toyota apparently can't solve a high school level engineering problem.
    2) Needs an ECU flash for the trans.
    3) Needs a new prop shaft because quality control was not adequately maintained by a supplier.
    4) Get to figure out how to silence the well known rattle in the passenger side dash.
    5) Get to develop a strategy for stopping your vehicle in the event that your vehicle suddenly accelerates without driver input (or will not stop; Prius) due to floormats, an accelerator pedal, or whatever the hell else is wrong.
    6) Get to consider the fact that Toyota has known about the sudden acceleration problem for years (admittedly) yet done nothing about it, until it resulted in obviously related fatalities.

If you think that constitutes a satisfactory transaction when purchasing a new vehicle then I don't know what else to say.

I bought the Weathertechs and have installed them on both my vehicle and my fathers.

I do need to go back to the dealership to get an AAL, a new prop shaft, and the ECU flashed (at least). Nothing like buying a new car.

So others who own the same product as you have legitimate qualms with it. They make statements in that regard and the only thing you can do is lash out because on some level it implies that your decision or impression (Toyota >> all) is wrong (or not totally informed) and you can't handle that...

I had a used 1996 Silverado for 100k miles. The only thing that ever went wrong with it was an emissions sensor, which you could ignore LOL.

The Tacoma is not perfect and probably has scores of problems, but it is eons ahead of anything the big three have produced.
