I know that there is a noise problem with Tacoma's cruising on the highway with a strong crosswind.

Took my truck to the dealer for repair and they informed me that Toyota policy was that unless they could duplicate the problem they could do nothing. I even had a one minute video with audio to show them. Well, good luck finding a day when they can get out on the road on a day with a good crosswind to replicate the noise.

Since they would not help, I am looking for info (phone number, email address, mailing address) for the regional service manager for the Austin/San Antonio area to enlist his/her help.

    Any ideas?

My nephew had the same frustration until he called Toyota Corporate. (800-331-4331)
Had an appointment set up by them at a local dealer and problem was fixed in a week.

I've always thought that whoosh sound came from my window visors not being properly put in. Had them on since i got the truck. But now i know it's something else.

There is a fix you can do yourself. There is a thread somewhere on here with the details. People are putting a 1/4" tube in the door seal which spreads out the door seal and applies more pressure to to the cab. Prevents air from getting between the seal and the metal, which is what causes the noise.

Don't waste your time trying to get them to fix it. Unless you are out of work and like fighting with people for no purpose just save yourself the hassle and wasted time and fix it yourself for five dollars and five minutes of effort:
    • Go to your local hardware store and get some weather striping, preferably EPDM or something more durable than the really cheap foam stuff (cost $5).
    • Place said weather striping between the existing door seal and the door. Just tuck it in there behind the existing seal, it won't be visible at all once installed this way. You don't need adhesive but if the striping came with some feel free to use it. (time less than 5 minutes)
    • Enjoy now quiet ride in cross winds.

    Here's the TSB number...

    TSB 0170-16
I need to get it done myself.

This is for this exact thing in a newer model 2nd Gen. Don't do the Jerry rig fix of putting shit into your door seals, it doesn't last for most from what I've read in those threads.

I didn't realize this was even fixable.

I kind of ignore it. Hear it so rarely. LOL Though I had fun explaining this to a passenger once...

If it ever gets awkward between my girl and i, while we're cruising, this would be great filler, haha.

LOL Something for filling in that awkward silence! Too bad you can't make it do it on command.... Hmmm...

Right? "So.. i need to get my door seals fixed. It's technically called TSB 0170-16..." i can only imagine the possibilities of where that could lead, lmao.

It just got released I guess.

@wanna taco posted it in the Cave 2.0 and I copied it to a sticky on my desktop. He had the work done and this was the TSB he received

Oh god this issue is so common and so easy to fix.

I fixed mine in the middle of nowhere with a plastic grocery bag I had in the truck.

The problem is that the door seals is just not stiff enough. Shove anything you want in there to stiffen it up. I would have upgraded from my plastic bag, but since it was free and has worked for 10,000+ miles now, I don't see a reason to.
