This. I drive 3 miles on dirt daily. 1 trip down it and a wash is toast.

All kidding aside, I totally agree with you. Enjoy your truck as you see fit. Gotta follow your vibe.

Same here, dirt roads every day. Sometimes I look and say, "why bother, it'll look like crap later today!"

Now salt...I wash that shit ASAP.

My neighbors give me shit every weekend when I wash my truck and the Mrs Renegade. say that I am going to wash the paint away. I take pride in my things that I own.

Always wondered what the inside of their house looks like knowing they don't give a shit what dirty vehicles people see them out and about in.

    Just occasionally.

You know when you see a person itching their ass, it's due to them not wiping correctly and leaving just enough residue for it to dry up and become hard enough to irritate the area between the checks.

Only 3 miles ??? We have to drive at least 16 miles (in any direction) before we reach a paved road. But whenever we go to Medellin (the BIG city), I always wash my truck when we get back. Pressure wash the undercarriage too. Dirt and grime screws up suspension parts, u-joints, etc. Whenever I have to work underneath on my truck, I don't like dirt and dust falling all over me whenever I touch something. Any autos/trucks imported into Colombia have a 35% import duty thrown on them. So, Toyota trucks, even used ones, cost a fortune. Dealers only sell at window sticker, and bank financing interest is out the roof. If you don't have cash , you're screwed. We've been her for 10 years, but we needed to totally remodel our farm house, and get our business going good before thinking about getting cars/trucks. Now that we both have decent trucks, I'm not about to let them get filthy and wear out too soon. So, I wash them ... a lot. Whenever we go to our pueblo (Alejandria), I always make certain our cars are clean, shiny, and lookin' good. There are several other guys in town who have similar Hilux trucks, but parked next to mine, their's look like a POS. I've always been a car guy, and having my ride looking good is mas importante.

I use hair shampoo to wash our trucks. It cleans great, but isn't hard on the paint. I follow the wash with an application of 3M IMPERIAL HAND GLAZE, and then wax it with Meguiers GOLD CLASS 100% Carnuba Paste Wax. When I'm done our trucks look blindingly awesome !!

Maybe I'm anal about our rides, but I am what I am.

When I had a Porsche, I babied it and only would hand-wash it, wax it way to often, etc. That was fine because it was a tiny ride.

With my Tacoma, I A: Moved into a high-rise condo that doesn't have a "public" hose. B: Dont have that kind of time or inclination to wash the whole thing myself. The local brushless washes are pretty solid, and I can get an ultimate wash for ~$15. Once they are done I can pull it off to the side and clean up where they left off, put on some tireshine/protectant, wipe down the interior and hit it with the vacuum. I can do all of that in 5-20 minutes depending on how much time I want to spend on it.

I will also use $5-9 gas station washes throughout the winter to get most of the salt off.

I pay to have the exterior detailed (waxed) once a year.

Yeah, 3 miles of mud or powder depending on the weather. One wash on a powder day and 1.5miles back to the house and the car is covered in brown dirt the consistency of flour. It's futile to wash one and it's dirty after 1.5miles. Do as you wish and I will as well.
My last truck spent 17 years traversing this road and might have been washed 2X a year. Factory non-greasable u-joints had just been changed and factory front suspension still in good shape when I sold it. Paint shined like new after washed--I didn't rub all the clearcoat off of it washing it all the time.

Yes, I back my Taco into the garage. And the wife pulls her car in. We have a corner lot. And as you can see from the pic below our driveway is curved to move the entrance away from the intersection. This makes backing out of the right hand side a nightmare. Trying to back out and swing the front around to get the back to the left with the shrubs is almost impossible. On the Left hand side this is no problem. So I just "back in" and "pull out". Another advantage to this is that the drivers side doors are always next to the walls. So less chance of door dings on the other vehicle.
