Sooo, 3rd gens suck to CMC. Probably should have looked at one before today. Also had the normal DYF equipment failure that required some carefull engineering and ultimately a trip to lowes. I had fun :D

He thinks some kind of stronger alloy. Was a bitch to cut. Plus there is a 1" bar inside the cab mount frame. Took him forever just to cut it.

I have a feeling Homeland Security would be interested in the one I have. We went WAY overboard with it. Made out of schedule 80 pvc pipe with a 12v push button igniter.

I'm not 100% sure what part of Harlan County they were in....Nothing looked real familiar. I don't think it was part of Black Mountain ORP. Would be very interested in where....

You might be right, I think for some of the trip we were in the black Mountain area. The first night we stayed in a camp ground near the black Mountain off road park I think it was called.

You were in it? If so, can you link me to someone who knows where you all were? Some of it looked like Black Mountain. I'd love to know about other trails in the area. Black Mountain is hands down my favorite trail system.

Yeah, I'm in the cement Taco at the start of the video. We left from Jellico and ran up part of the Kentucky Adventure trail towards WV. We did day 4,5, and 6 of the route that Broken Spoke Overland took in 2016 on their trip which is documented on the net if you google search it. I have the maps but there on my tablet in Giga Maps, I'm not sure how to really "post" that as a pic.

Ken beat me to it. I can provide the file info if need be. It was a great trip. We stayed at the black mountain camp ground on the Putney side. The one where the showers are in a open field in front on hwy 119.

Last time @ Harlan, we went in through Putney Trailhead. Tried Evarts 2 years ago. I'll be organizing a 3rd annual fall run (3rd weekend of October) and there's talk of a group mostly from Central and Northern Indiana going in the spring/early summer. The place looks entirely different with leaves on the trees vs winter time!

Yes it does look different and in the fall when the leaves change and you can get about the ridges and look out it is spectacular. One of my favorite places to wheel since it's close other than windrock.

It was pretty cloudy and gloomy weather with off and on rain when we went, I'd like to go another time of year as I bet the scenery is much better in summer or fall. Dryer conditions wouldn't be bad either, it was a muddy mess to say the least...lol

Location for camp on night 2 was great, definitely a place to consider for a camp spot in the future.

Some of the group camped @ Putney this year. They were in severe drought, but the Friday night we got there it rained quite a bit. It was dry before the next day was over. The plan for 2017 is to camp one night about half way through the trails as far away from the 2 campgrounds as we can get.
