Tires screeching while stopping ?

I've noticed lately once in a while it sounds like my tires are screeching when I am comming to a stop. But I'm not slamming the brakes at all. What could this be from? I also notice sometimes on turns in parking or neighborhood they seem to screech too, but I'm not going fast at all?
Any suggestions?

if you run out of brake fluid they may be locking up really easily...

 

Just checked, brake fluid is fine.

 

Does it occur when you step on the brakes?

When was the last time you changed or checked your brake pads? The pads have a 'wear indicator' on them that'll rub againest the rotor when the pads are bad. This metal on metal will cause screeching - telling you its time to replace your front brake pads.

Other than that....
We need more information..... You also might have something (stone) stuck in there. Try going in reverse and stepping on the brakes several times - this might dislodge whatever is in there.

 

Maybe because you're in California?

I know the same thing used to happen on the Rockford Files.

 

Check tire inflation and alignment....and the brakes.
My tires were slightly misaligned after my lift....but it was even misalignment- So the truck drove straight, but squealed in turns.

 

could be the type of asphalt you know how in a parking garage no matter what you do your tires will squeal.
