People need something to do with their free time.
I am glad I knew nothing of internet forums when I bought my 2016. I have one of the "trouble free" 3rd gens, but would not have made the purchase if I was lurking here for a few months before I needed to buy- I would have purchased the Frontier.
I love this 2016 Tacoma and I do not put much stock in the constant bitching - about 3rd gens and 3rd gen owners - on the forum.
That said, this forum is still great, just taken with a grain of salt.
And oh yeah, never ever would I buy a Ridgeline- 6' bed is a minimum requirement.
And if the SR was available with a 6cyl, I would have hunted one of those down. bells and whistles will be a PITA in 20 years, but the Quicksand color is really nice!

Nice L.C. But, I gotta say the only windows I've ever had a problem with were those with hand cranks.

Excellent post agree 100% with your comments. Only need in a truck that I had to have was 4 Lo due to the location of our hunt camp and some areas I ride with my motorcycle, maybe not the best reason but it was important to me. Why did I choose a Tacoma over say the Frontier, because my wife works for Toyota Canada (Lexus division actually) and I got the employee price on my truck. So far I am extremely happy with it no issues at all like some are having. As I stated in my above post I have a '93 GMC Sierra that I was daily driving until 2011 then I got a 2012 RAV4 and drove that until last fall when I gave it to my daughter and bought the Taco as I didn't like taking the GMC into the bush as it is old with about 450K km on it so important to have reliability when you are in the bush.

I guess we are talking about different things completely. I am refering to the inside bed dimensions which is what most people care about, meaning what can I fit into the back of my truck. Example will a sheet of plywood or drywall fit in and how will it fit. You are refering to the exterior overall dimension (width) of the truck. So yes the Tacoma is ~75" wide with overfenders if we look at the spec sheet. As I stated the only dimension I got from a sheet was the bed length for the Taco as mine is LB everything else was measure using a tape measure so it won't be 100% to what the manufacturer might spec. I can get out my digital tapemeasure and give you a measurement to the 100th of an inch if you want.......but I won't do that as it appears we are comparing completerly different measurements. I didn't measure the Honda exterior because no one I know measures the bed dimensions that way but I would guess that the walls are at least 5-6" thick at the widest point so add about 10-12" to the interior bed width of 60". And if you are quoting overall width Honda claims theres to be 78.6". here is the link for their info.
    http://recalls.owners.honda.com/vehicles/information/2017/Ridgeline/specs#mid^YK2F2HEW

By the way here is the spec document I got the bed length from. Toyota publishes these for all vehicles they make. You can see the interior bed dimesions on page 4.

Because Tacoma owners really know that Ridgeline is all the truck they need in their lives

Additionally they have low self esteem and constantly has to shout "tacoma is better" even when they are actually pining for the creature comfort of a Ridgeline because inside they really are girly men with no need for trucks but over compensating by lifting their Tacoma with big wheels big tires snorkel RTT and tire shine while they only go to mall but are expedition ready

Average Tacoma owners really just need nothing more than a pilot or odyssey but they are online pretending to be mountain men Lone Ranger Alaskans in their Tacoma ....

Every one of these Ridgeline threads reads the same.... Butthurt Taco Owners slam the Ridgeline for silly reasons.

Two different vehicles for slightly different purposes.

Looks like someone came back and completely revamped their douche comment from last night into one far more sensible. Glad you got to it before someone else did.

The heart wants what the heart wants. In my driveway sits my much loved 01 Tacoma. But I needed a new daily. I test drove a jeep and considered a new ish Subaru. But then I was all like "stop being such a pussy and get another Tacoma" and I'm glad I stopped being such a pussy and got another Tacoma.

"Additionally they (Tacoma owners) have low self esteem" FY!!! I started this thread NOT WITH AN OPINION but simply to share a Tacoma/Ridgeline review video I saw. I like my 3d gen and was also impressed with many of the features of the Ridgeline. I made no comment about which was better. IMO, they are each designed for two different markets and both will do well in their respective markets. BTW, my self esteem only lowers when I read crap like this from people like you. You probably went into shock when Trump was elected by us "redneck, gun-totin (as they say in the south), over religious, and uneducated voters. Damn, now I have to find a good therapist to help me reconcile my 3d gen purchase. He (or she) will probably make me take down my Long Ranger and Alaska posters.

Been in both and here's my opinion...keep in mind I own a Tacoma for the time being.

Just a few things I envy of the ridge line....not a truck so I am not interested. Would rather have the new accord if I wanted a non truck.

    -seat adjustability
    -steering wheel adjustability
    -quality of finish
    -transmission better
-no defects detected on my short ride in one.

I don't think it's about being inferior, it's about Japan vs Japan then throw some USA stuff in ther for good measure. It's like dirtbikes and atvs used to be Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha now it's ktm, Can-Am. It's just something to talk about and drama.

The Honda couldn't take it and overheated the tranny.

Do you need to know, or care?
I need to go on Ridgeline forums to see if they are comparing against Tacoma. Something tells me they are not, but I'm not sure. Anybody know?

Yeah, I went over there and it's not that bad. They had sub forums for basket weaving (I'm not that good but I'm TRYING), and they have a "recipe of the week", it's amazing. Last week, this guy made a fantastic looking quiche, and he won a brand new lazy Susan!!!! They are super friendly, I'm all about it.

I don't know anything about the 3rd gen AT except for what I read here since both of my 16 and 17 have been MT.

That said, the 9 speed trans in the new PILOT is having a TON of issues. Issues are worse than what happened on the recent TLX. Currently the Ridgeline is still using the old 6 speed. However, with the new Odyssey and Pilot going 9 speed, I think its a matter of time the Ridgeline will get the 9 speed. Either Honda fixes trans issues by then, or future Ridgeline owners will be in a world of trouble.

    Utter bull!

I grew six inches of chest hair in the time it took to read this post. The whole reason I recently got expedition leaf springs was to carry the testosterone I can't get rid of fast enough. I went into the bush with nothing but a bottle of scotch last weekend and rode back out on a grizzly. Then I strapped an ARB snatch strap to the bear and pulled out a stuck Ridgeline. What else can I possibly drive if not a Tacoma?

Did you need the Tacoma's massive towing capacity to have a trailer tow your massive balls? :)
