Soooo.. what you're saying is... bottom end torque is more important than hp when towing and hauling. At least that's what I sumiz.

Torque>HP when it comes to trucks.

20 years ago I had my 70 Olds 442, it had a 455 with a turbo 400 tranny and a 12 bolt POS rear, pushed 360 HP and 500 pounds of tork!! same rearand & same weight, it was a bad ass muscle car back then!!! And my little 6 cylinder pickup Runs the Same times as my 442!!! We have stock factory cars in the 3 sec Range today which is insanely fast!! I am still Amazed every time I step on that peddle in my Tacoma it's more then enough!!!

Nope... not even close. In a 442 Olds, you couldn't grab a $100 bill from the dash if the driver mashed the peddle. In those days you could get 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear scratch from a motor like that.
1/4 mile times today don't give you that holly crap feeling like the muscle cars did. Don't even go there.

How does a Pro weigh more than an OR? They are basically the same truck, the Pro gets a 20 lb aluminum skid and the OR gets a 30 pound moon roof.

Off the line I agree with you it pegged you to you're seat!!! Chirped 1st 2nd & third in that car lol... But as far as 0to60 6.7 sec and the quarter mile was high 15s I had that car for 11 years and raced it down at Englishtown Dragway and Island Dragway in New Jersey back in the day.. now if it was a W30 that would be a different Story...

For all of you that think your 3rd gen is slow, you have an open invitation to come drive my 2001 DOUBLE CAB (heaviest model), 2.7L with the soul sucking gimpomatic.

Then you will go home, and tell your wives your 3rd gen is faster than an Ariel Atom.

It is a master of perspective ;)
