geez here we go, good natured ribbing turned to crap. Spygate is all some people have, its their "go to" Except, its old and losing traction the more they win, unless youre marshall faulk. Just ignore it and enjoy the rings, 1-2-3-4-5

Um,,, Sean Payton was paying guys a bonus to purposely hurt players to take them out of the game. He's lucky the NFL even let him back in!!! That is SO much different than videotaping! Give me a fucking break!!!

That was the maximum fine. He could've been suspended for an entire season or worse.

Actually, the investigation found no evidence of a bounty program ever existing.

With Spygate, on the other hand, Goodell actually had incriminating evidence destroyed.

    HA!

That explains a lot about you. You're ok with a coach running a program rewarding his players for deliberately causing potentially career-ending injuries against opposing teams, but you think the Pats needed stronger punishment than the league maximum for videotaping signals from the wrong spot?

    What a moron.

As 'evidence' you're supplying a link to an opinion piece that cites zero sources from either 'spygate' or 'bountygate' and admits that deliberately attempting to injure players is disgusting but then immediately goes on to say that since football's an inherently violent game that it's ok and they should have let it slide?

Whatever man. Stay salty, I don't even care.

That's just it, Shanahan will be gone of course, and word is we likely won't be able to keep both Freeman and Coleman, one of them will go due to $ from what I hear. Not sure about some others like Freeney and Mack. I just feel that this was our year to break the mold, curse, or whatever you want to call it and we let it slip away. I've watched for a long time (all Georgia sports) and had a lot of heartache but last night took the cake by far and it's a bitter pill to swallow.
I never counted them out but I also didn't expect our offense to choke the rest of the way either. I was already saying when it was 28-3 if we could punch it in one more time that would be it. As it turned out a fg would've done it plus killing the clock in the process when we took the sack then had the holding penalty. Only in Atlanta can these kind of things happen.

What is sad is some facts given from local radio today. Teams in the SB were 12-0 when they got a pick six. Teams that had 4 sacks in the SB had a record with some kind of ridiculous numbers I can't even remember. We had 5. Teams that scored first in the SB won the majority of the time. The list went on and on and was sickening to listen to.

Just like Dwalden, I am a lot more passionate about college football so I hadn't really gotten into this thread until the playoffs. Since I thought we had a good shot at this thing I started coming in here just to see what was being said. But as a longtime sports fan from the Atl I don't take much for granted. Even though I felt good about our chances, I know all too well not to get cocky also. It's hell being a sports fan from here. If you back your team you're an idiot, homer, or whatever. If you don't you're a fairweather fan, it's like you can't win.

I'm spent. As a caller on the radio said, I also feel that the game last night had more affect on me for other teams and sports. It's like we're cursed. I was looking for a SB win the break the mold here. But the way that game played out it did a lot in the opposite way of that for me. So any big games in the future you'll never see me chalk it up as a win until the clock hits zero. Not in this area with this culture. The sports gods hate us!

On another note. Does anyone here play boards on the big games? Idk if it's allowed to talk about on here so sorry if not but I got in on one at work and nobody mentioned about if it went to OT. I would've won $75 for the end of regulation but was told it went to someone else due to ot. I've played a few in the past and always thought the general rule was ot was not counted. This board payed out by halves is what I was told but now they say it went to the final. Is this normal or did I get screwed?

Depends on how it it stated. I do one that's stated 1st, 2nd, 3rd, final score. So in that case 4th qtr gets zippo. Post a pic of the description of payouts if you have

I think you guys have a solid foundation for next year. Your backfield shredded us for instance. You need some defense to be sure.
