Hmm, I've never served or been served. So I really don't know. Other than the fact my dad was served divorce papers by a deputy and other people I know have been served in the same fashion.

Self defense is so iffy though, especially with Cali laws. You swing one swing too many and it could immediately turn into an assault charge. That's why they say that if someone breaks into your house you better kill them and say they were threatening your life, otherwise you're just waiting for them to sue you.

In Ohio you couldn't shoot a robber if they were on the way out. Halfway in the window is ok, halfway out was not.

 

I don't think any state takes gunshot wounds to the back lightly.

 

Also power in numbers. My friend got a restraining order on her abusive boyfriend. She got 10 guys to come to her house when it was time for him to move out. He freaked out, was restrained until the sheriff showed up. The sheriff stayed until he was packed up and gone.

 

I can't shoot someone breaking into my car, even if caught in the act.

The guy (cop) who taught my Conceal Carry class told us if you shot them in the doorway of your home make sure to drag them over the threshold if they fell backward!
