Has anybody come across slow start up. I've notice it's taking my Tacoma longer to turn over the last couple of days. I thought maybe it was the cold weather but went to the grocery store just now, currently 55 degrees and it took about 3 seconds for my engine to turn over and start.

Check the voltage at the battery with the engine off. For a fairly new battery it should be over 12.5 volts. Then check with the engine running it should be over 13 volts. If the volts are low with the engine running time to see the dealer before you get stuck. If you have good voltage running but bad voltage with the battery not running then you either have a battery failing or you have a voltage draw when the engine is off.

definitely can't be the cold at 55F

It was -40C at the cottage last weekend and she started no problem, and I forgot to plug in, that was first thing in the morning after the truck sat for probably 18 hours.

Like @stevebaz said...either faulty battery or something is drawing power...
if you haven't done any mods not sure what that drawing power would be.

Unless you've done something to the truck? Using the wrong oil or something?

Ok I'll check the battery voltage and see what it reads

    No mods that required electricity

If it's the oil it's the dealships fault, still using my free oil changes

I also bought the extend bumper to bumper warranty for 7 years 100,000 miles so I'll probably be making a call to the dealership in the morning

I would guess bad gas too. Not sure the fuel filter change intervals of the truck or how many miles you have on it either. If you are under warranty, just take it to the dealer techs and let them figure it out. Good luck.

Use only top tier gas. Could be bad gas.

I'd think poor gas would be apparent in rough running and idling, not just starting.

Battery is most likely culprit. I've had a couple die early. Very simple to check, dealer or any auto parts store should be able to load test it quickly. Dealer should warranty it this early if it's bad.
