Don't give him any ideas! The slope becomes even more slippery after riding in your Cadillac of a truck.

Well I just want to make sure everyone knows what they're getting into :D

I think I'd feel differently about dailying my rig if it was an auto too. But it's a 70-30 split favoring the manual.

It's a caddy on the dirt for sure but the everyday cracks in the road can wear on a guy. NO RAGRATS

I took a job with at NOLS HQ in Dec. I'm originally from MT and had always heard good things about Lander, so we figured we'd see if it was all true.

I'm with you in the DC-LB club, no mountain-goating around on the rocks at this point...

    No shit?!

My brother is trying to get hired there this summer! He went on a trip a few year ago and loved it. Wants to be one of the...guides or whatever. His is the most down to earth mountain man dude out there. Name is Grant think he just applied.

Looked at their jobs last week or so and seems like some cool stuff. Perfect for him. I have a friend that is probably going to end up there when he finally decides to graduate haha.

We explored all over southern California with ours basically stock. Mojave Road, Death Valley, eastern Sierras - lots of dirt, washboards, sand, and gravel on aired down stock tires. I upgraded the suspension early on (after the first trip) with an OME kit, the stock suspension was too mushy on dirt roads with a bed full of camping gear and water. I put aluminum skids under the front and transfer case. The original tires were pretty tired after 35k, so I put new shoes on before driving to Alaska (lots more dirt, washboards, and mud) this last summer. No need to go too overboard, just have to know where you want to go...

@fish3rman - Mine is a daily driver, weekend dirt road riding, cool place finding, get away from the KOA dispersed campsite rig for the family. I can't afford to beat it to pieces, it has got to get us home at night and to work the next day...

My picture is in this Wyoming B.S. Thread, my wife is driving the truck while the weather is sloppy but you're welcome to take a look at it when you see us around town.

    Fulfilling its purpose:

That is a nice setup with the awning out over the tailgate. Is that a 55"er? I assume its mounted to your RTT bed rack. Do you have any close up pictures of the mounting brackets?

Monte had his mounted similarly at one point but he managed to knock it off by hitting too many tree branches IIRC. I am trying to figure out a detatcable mount so I don't do the same thing.

If you enjoy the outdoors or the 4th of July... Lander can't be beat. What do you do for the NOLS?
