If I were to buy a FoxWing Awning, what side would be better to put it on? Driver Side or Passenger side?

I have. You're right, many do. But there are a lot of street queens.

I was more curious about crossmember clearance and how it's held up with offroad and loaded down weight.

Don't fox wings only open one direction? :notsure:

If so youd want it on the driver side so it opens to the rear.

Yes, but they have two different ones. A driver side one and a passenger side one.

So driver side provides more shade for the driver side and passenger provides more shade for the passenger side.

    http://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/products/shade/awnings

I am leaning more towards a driver side mount since if I ever get a swing out, it would be in the way and people would have to walk around it all the time to get to the shade...

I'd lean towards driver side personally.

That is what I am thinking as well.

Now I just need to sell these awnings.

With a double cab the one piece has to be a larger diameter than OE and it will need to have a double cardon at the t-case end. Due to the larger diameter you will need to remove or C notch the OE carrier bearing cross member if you bump close to the frame. I've had mine for a few years and love it, your drive line will have a solid feeling that it never had before and zero vibes if you set it up correctly. All you do is line up the rear pinion right up the drive shaft at the same angle at ride height it's that simple. Only downside to a 1 piece is that you do lose a bit of ground clearance.

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Anyone carry smaller propane tanks? Like say a 10lb tank?

    ETA:

Do you find yourself limited to only having that much on an average trip?

Do you find it with the size savings?

Depends what you use the propane for. If all your meals will be prepared with it, you might need more than if you go with BBQ or campfire. If you're only out for weekends, 1# bottles may be all you need. Gone for a couple of weeks and 10# might not be enough.

What did you end up doing with your cross member?

I placed the order today for mine and hoping it'll be here on Monday or so. Guess I'll have a better idea once it's installed if I need to bust out the sawzall.

Looks pretty cool... maybe it is someone's graduate design work project. Looks kind of neat though.

You will absolutely need to bust out the sawzall, I removed the entire cross member.

I have a ten pounder. I go on enough weekend trips that I've found it useful over 1 pounders. I just got tired of having to have them. I suppose I could get the refill hose thing but I'd still need a 10 pounder to make that happen. I also do a once a year 1-2 week long trip to baja so it'll come in useful there. Although the last trip there the hose stopped working for some reason. Luckly I had a 1 pounder as back up.
