It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
If you're not moving, they will. If you're moving, it will read them to you, but not display them. At least that's what mine does.

That is the correct operation of the truck with an iPhone. I can't speak for other operating systems.

have you tried logging out of Entune on your phone, then log back in? I had issues of this sort came up. called Toyota, and adviced to log out and log in. solved the issue, but still happens every now and then. May have something to do with the phone being busy receiving emails and other stuff on the net while running Entune at the same time.

I have noticed my music will pause on its own when driving in and out of cell reception. There are a few dead zones on my drive to the mountains where this happens fairly predictably. I have an iPhone with Apple music via bluetooth. Strange thing is it still happens if I'm listening to a playlist that I have downloaded to the phone. It is a bit annoying but I'm used to just hitting play again. Hope an Entune update fixes this eventually...

Just tested my unit and I don't think it has anything to do with cell coverage. I turned off cellular data for both Spotify and Tidal and my offline library played fine. I never experienced music pause with Spotify Premium but did encounter a lot of times for it to not want to connect. I use Tidal now and it connects every time, not to mention is superior to Spotify in quality. Do you have background app refresh on? Hope you find the problem. Cheers

Where do you have your phone sitting for Bluetooth playback?

I too have experienced this problem and have found playing music from the Lightning cable (instead of Bluetooth) fixes this issue. Plug in your phone via the dash USB port and select "iPhone" from the audio menu instead of "Bluetooth".

When I remote start my truck that's sitting in the driveway it'll grab my phone's bluetooth while I'm still in the kitchen getting my stuff together.

Unless there's a hardware issue, bluetooth range is NOT going to be an issue.

what's the actual purpose of entune? Had the truck about 3 weeks now, can't figure out what its for. Bluetooth for music / podcasts all the time, that's pretty much all i need.

@bcbrack Are you talking about the Entune app on your phone? The phone app serves as the data conduit for the different apps on the Entune head unit in the truck. Fuel guide, Sports, Stocks, etc. as well as the Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Slacker Radio apps in the head unit. It can also serve as the data conduit for weather and traffic data if you don't have HD radio.

Gotcha. I don't use any of that haha so i guess i'm good.

I am curious as to how i get the 'dings' to stop when I open my door, as well as i wish when i turned the truck off the radio would stay on until I open the door.

@bcbrack As for the door, that should be configurable via TechStream -- meaning either get the dealer to do it or obtain the TechStream software plus a MiniVCI cable plus a laptop. I'll likely be playing with that later this week as it's kind of annoying to me as well. (pro tip: install a windows 7 virtual machine in VirtualBox and keep TS there so as to avoid any potential messing with your stuff)

Radio I've never paid much attention to; I pull in and turn off and am ready to get out. I think it'll stay on if you shut off before shifting to Park, but you may have to press the button again to go from ACC to Off.

Turn the truck off before opening the door, the dinging won't happen.
Keep the truck in gear, turn the truck off, then put in park - Radio will stray on

Bluetooth range is about 300ft max. It will not penetrate liquid. What this means is that Bluetooth signal might suck if you have your phone in your back pocket while you drive. It does bounce off of hard surfaces, which is why Bluetooth headsets work better indoors than out. For example, my Bluetooth ear buds cut out if I have my phone in my left pocket since the BT antenna is in the right ear bud.

My question about phone placement is about if the signal can get to the truck due to being unable to penetrate something... Not about range.

Range/sensitivity relates to bounce. Inside a vehicle, with tons of RF reflective surfaces, it is highly improbable that you'll have any bluetooth issues with your phone in your back pocket.

What was your result when you tried it?

Personally, I don't sit on a thin expensive electronics, so I never leave my phone in my back pocket when sitting down, so I've not personally tried that. Never had an issue with it in my left jacket pocket though, with my torso between the phone and the head unit.

It was a legit question and is certainly plausible. No need to be an ass about it, bro.

Summary... Without asking, you never know exactly what anyone else is doing. This is a troubleshooting step. Hell, the dude may be dropping it inside a yeti cup.. You don't know unless you ask.

I added my thoughts to the discussion. I don't believe that to be a likely culprit given the closed, RF-reflective environment that is the inside of a truck cab.

You're certainly welcome to your own opinion. There was nothing in what I wrote that was intended to cause offense.

I have been in IT for 15 years and dealt with a lot of users and done a ton of troubleshooting. Never assume anything. Until you have a 100% clear picture of what a user is doing, how are you going to know all of the factors involved in troubleshooting?

Was trying to help the guy having Bluetooth issues. Refer them to GBP.... The great Bluetooth prophet. He knows all, apparently.
