Using Crawl Control ended up costing me $1100 in broken parts.

    Thanks for posting OP. Without getting into the debate of whether your CC or you caused the breakdown, I sympathize for your situation. Thanks for sharing your experience... the good will be *hopefully* some aftermarket fabricator can make a new part to protect the area. good luck.

    Thanks for posting @mmrocek . This is why I take my PRO to the mall and starbucks, and take my 200 series off roading. With KDDS and Crawl, 200 has been unstoppable and nothing has broken, yet.

    I sympathize for your situation. I imagine that tow was very expensive?

    Ok, just to clear things up. Yes, I broke it. If I wasn't on sand/stuck it would never have broken. This was meant as informational/be careful post. But at the end of the day the quotes that I posted from what the toyota guys told me got me ticked off.

    You have those skids installed and the actuator got jammed up with sand?? Wow.... thats interesting. Dumb question... where you "properly" aired down?? Usually you don't get stuck .... but KO2's.. not good nuff in deep soft sand looks like, as suggested and as promised. Sorry for your loss.

    Lexus's older RX300 had a design flaw in the whole dash, where it would crack, deteriorate, and look terrible. Toyota initially told the customers they'd replace the dash, but just charge $1000 labor. The part was bad, but they tried to make money off it. Someone sued, and Toyota ended up reimbursing the people who were charged, and replacing the defective part at no cost. That's one example. There are many stories on TW, just look around.

    while in Crawl Control... If I didn't have high hopes for the CC getting me out like in the ad, I would have used the winch much sooner.

    Good job... so what are we learning from this experience??

    1) K-bro-2s suck in deep sand and likely deep mud too
    2) Crawl control sucks cept for infomercials
    3) refer to #1
    4) get out tow straps sooner?

    It is on topic.

    The failure is here:

    1) OP was offroading and simply, any "offroad" situation, the liability lies with the driver/owner
    2) OP used an additional feature that came with the truck under the assumption it can get you out of anything
    3) OP used said feature and a part broke
    4) refer to #1

    generally if it's not working I stop and try something else. Like I eventually did with the winch to get out. The CC infomercial shows the trucks being in the sand for a good amount of time while it's trying to work itself out. I gave it too much trust.

    I'm not going to grab my pitchfork and torch, OP I'm glad you're trying to inform the public. I wish the TRD-Off Road's came with real world use instruction for Crawl Control... I think you had the correct intentions and impressions for use, and damage ensued making your vehicle immobile. Thanks for the information, now how does one use the CC feature properly within Toyota's specs...?
