Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
There's a pretty big electrical connection on the opposite side of tube in question. I know the early models had a vacuum actuator.

In my experiences, goodwill consideration typically applies to known issues that are documented by a TSB and the vehicle is outside of the factory warranty.

From my understanding, the electrical connectors are there to open/close valves that change the direction that vacuum is applied to move the shift fork one way or the other. I'd imagine some of those wires are also there to report the shift lever position and such

Different types of sand. In the video is a much courser sand.

Haven't gone through the whole thread but am I the only one that doesn't see a problem with the way Toyota handled it? Doesn't matter what warranty you have.

It broke do to your own doing.
Asking a warranty to fix something you broke while wheeling is like crashing into a pole and saying Toyota should fix your smashed bumper under warranty.

If something got torn off from sand or whatever it's not their fault.

Curious OP what skid do you have?

Crawl control is cool and all, but even after seeing the demo I wouldn't really use to. Considering you had maxxtrax/treds on your roof not sure why you didn't just use them instead of digging yourself down so deep that this happened.

    LMAO
They are great for the mall parking lot though.

I think crawl control for getting out of stuff is stupid. But it does serve its purpose climbing/descending hills

Just saying...its everyone from the trucks on AT tires, to the audi's and subaru that seem to think that in a snow storm they are invincible around here.
Always say 'I have 4x4/AWD I don't need winter tires' and drive like total cocks

hell having a different skid could be pointed at as the cause.
Say something like if you kept the factory skid that covered differently this wouldn't have happened etc.

So now before you use crawl control on a TRD Off Road you have to do a grain size analysis? :D

By the way, how do you know the grain size of the sand at the beach the OP got stuck?

Here is another Toyota crawl control demo video. Looks like fine sand in this one.....:bananadead:

    sand?
that looks like dry soil lol. or maybe yard sand. regardless those test they do are going to be with stuff you can buy from a landscaping store I imagine. as they clearly haven't done any of those on an actual sand dune or real hill.

I don't know what sand he was in, I'm just saying different sands will have different effects.
And if its wet sand? could be heavier and packed in harder.
I've been on beaches where the sand was practically like baby powder it was so fine. Wasn't driving on it but either way.

If you're too stupid to be able to tell the difference from a fine powder sand or a more course sand then I dunno what to tell you.
Doesn't matter if its an Offroad and they advertise it as being capable of doing so. He had different skids can easily be pointed at as the cause. Simple 'if you kept the factory skids it could've had blah blah to help not have sand pack in blah blah blah'

Honestly what is with everyone always wanting hand outs for everything?
"I crashed my truck into a tree while I was driving drunk HOW DARE the dealer not warranty my totalled truck" basically what it sounds like to me when someone demands a warranty for something they caused.

I read through the rest of the thread, OP does state he's just trying to make people aware which is great. But so many are saying toyota should warranty it.
Why in the fuck should they? Read the fine print on your stuff dude...any alterations to the vehicle can be pointed at within reason to causing said problem, altered skids are right there.
He was off road, disclaimer in any warranty is that it happened under normal use on road and do to manufacturer fault. Wheeling on a beach is not normal use for a mass produced vehicle, none less being bogged up to the frame.

I wonder if that guy tried to get his raptor warrantied after he did that.
you know it wasn't his problem right? He was doing what the truck was advertised to do right?
According to some's logic at least...

Not saying OP, he's cool, and has a nice looking build.

That is not A vacuum hose that is the breather hose if you follow it up you'll see where it leads up into the engine compartment as a breather. The four-wheel-drive engagement is done electronically that's with that big wires and actuator is

yea thats what i was thinking also. the other thing is owners should really get to know their trucks before taking them out of town. i have had similar issues and you can pull off the module and manually put it into low/high. beats having it towed.
