    Let me know how your shell works out. I might need to see what you did because I'm getting frustrated as all hell with the water issues. I need mine dry for hauling work stuff around

    Just checked my canopy after we had an inch of rain overnight. No leaks but the real test will come in a few months when I go through a car wash. :confused:

    It turns into a rubber-like substance is actually easily peeled off with your hands. Literally rub your fingers back and fourth and it comes right off.

    Well, here is what I found out when I pulled my cap yesterday. The side rail caps have a design integrated in them that has channels that allows the water to follow under my seals and dump into my bed area. The channels exit into all the bed areas that water has been coming in, so I truly believe they are the culprit. I removed the rail caps, added extra weatherstripping to the cap's existing weatherstripping to make up the height difference that is now between the front rail and side rails. Also by removing the rail caps, it opened up the front problem corners. I now have one large opening on either side instead of the rail caps dividing the opening into several smaller openings, so it should be easier to seal. Plans today is to try to seal the tailgate and rear storage cubbies, then water test. I am going to look closely at the side top caps to see if there is a possible way to remove/fill-in the channels to possibly remount them, since I would prefer to use them.

    After sealing up the rear cubbies and tailgate this morning, I went to the carwash to see if everything I did over the last two days worked. Well...... The leaks along the side rails are gone, water coming in the cubbies are gone, water coming in the tailgate appears to be gone (hard to tell because as soon as I open the rear hatch, the water drips down onto the bed), but I still have water coming in the two front corners. Definitely slowed the water coming in the corners, but still not totally dry yet. :(

    here is the update;
    Going through a touch-free carwash;
    1) Both front corners have been dry
    2) Side rails have remained dry
    3) Small amount of water coming in through front removable window
    4) Small amount of water coming in through tailgate
    5) Cubbies dry

    During a few light rainy days, all have been dry.

    My next step will be to have my wife drive the truck into the carwash while I sit in the bed to see exactly where the water is coming in from!

    I got a Leer cap put on my 2016 Tacoma OffRoad last November. It's been leaking ever since. I'm in the Mojave right now-so it's not the most pressing issue, but when I am somewhere that it rains it generally leaks-the carpet on the sill under the window gets wet and water pools on the bed. I've got the bed liner, so the water TENDS to stay under that-but not always.

    I've had it in the shop that installed it and they sprayed water at it with a hose and lifted it and sealed the front corners and between the bedcap and the bottom edge of the cap. That fixed the worst of the leaks, but it still trickles in even in light rain.

    I don't know if it's coming in around the window seals or under the sill. I have a suspicion that it's the windows.

    Since I'm moving to Colorado Springs for a bit and then to likely back to Alaska-this leak NEEDS to get fixed. It rains a lot in AK.

    Looks like @ajhod resurrected this thread so I'll jump in on it too: What exact and specific steps did you take to waterproof the front corners?

    My Leer dealer says it's a Toyota problem and won't touch it. It's going into a body shop in a few weeks (because I was rear-ended last week :mad:) and they will have to pull the cap. I'm going to get them to do EVERYTHING in their power to fix those corners, they are the only issue I have right now.

    I used electrical putty to seal up as much of the front corners as I could. I then sealed the front corners from the outside with a thin layer of clear caulk. I also removed the plastic bed rails from both sides of the bed, so the cap seal would work better.

    I am dealing with similar issue with leaking on a new 2018 DCSB and ARE CX shell. Similar leaking points in front corners of the bed where the camper and bed join. When I put my head flat to the bed I can already see the gaps. Mine is going back to ARE in a few weeks for quality issues so I will really want to look into getting it as waterproof as possible when I get it back. I’d love to see photos of the stuff you guys have tried. Thanks
