I've been on a roll the last few days and my writing has gotten positive reviews so I figured I'd put this out there too

In August 2015, I rear-ended a 2014 Mustang GT in stop-and-go traffic... At the time I had a second delivering pizzas for a family-owned pizzeria. My boss, the owner of the pizzeria, was a nice enough guy, but also a very loud and in-your-face Italian immigrant with old-fashioned values. My boss saw damage to my truck and immediately thinks he can jawbone me into selling it to him at a discounted price for use as work truck, and he made clear that he had no intention to fix the damage. The damage to the truck was like $1,500, and I had every intention of getting it fixed. While I do use my truck to haul stuff, I do not consider it a work truck and definitely not a beater. I have a sentimental attachment to my Tacoma because my dad bought it for me as a gift when I got my learner's permit. I have a clear PA title in my name and I have invested thousands of dollars (with some help from my dad) into things like the stereo system and rims. My Tacoma has it's share of dents and dings, but KBB rates my truck as "Good" condition and the current resale value is about $11,950 last time I checked. My Tacoma is not a beaten-to-shit, driven-hard/put away wet work vehicle. It is a low mileage, mildly customized daily driver that I have no plans to get rid of. Normally it is common sense to not talk back to your boss, but it took about three times before I really had to be firm, put my foot down, and tell him "No, the truck is not for sale!"

The very next day I took my truck to a local body shop for a repair estimate, a woman who had brought her Audi in for a repair estimate approached me and complimented me on the truck. She then started asking how much I'd paid for it and strongly implying that she wanted to buy it. I immediately went on the defensive and politely insisted that it wasn't for sale.

Moral of the story: I'm flattered that so many people love my truck, but get your own because you ain't getting mine. It ain't for sale, so quit asking!

The Tacoma also had body rust as well, and he needed something with a V8.

Better just sell it now and avoid the hassle. I've got $1,500 on it.

My truck has passed safety inspection with flying colors ever year and I haven't gotten a letter from Toyota USA so I don't think my truck is affected. I also regularly do the undercarriage wash, especially in the winter.

Right. I had a 2002 Jeep TJ I bought for $7K that I had no intentions to sell. A guy at my buddys work offered me a mint 99 BMW M3 and $2,000 for it...so I did it, then sold the M3 for $10,500 and bought my Tacoma with $5,500 cash down, all from simple profit. #everythingsforsale

I don't see any problems with the frame. My is strictly a mall crawler. And it parked inside at night. Plus we don't have to worry about salted roads. The letter said they would seal the frame also.

I noticed you added a aftermarket stereo to your truck.. Mind me asking which kind you put in it, and how you went about wiring it up to your backup cam? I just checked my 09 yesterday and it came with a backup camera so im in the process of looking into aftermarket double dins and wiring them to a prewired taco. Any info would be appreciated or if you have some links to a write up for installation thatd be great. Ive searched, however, haven't been able to find anything specific on what im looking for.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-and-backup-camera-in-my-truck-photos.452828/

I initially did a whole-system replacement in 2013. In 2016 I decided I wanted a backup camera. I prefer the huge in-dash screen as opposed to the rearview mirror cam that came standard on high-end 2009-newer Tacos. My aunt's 2009 RAV4 Limited has a rearview mirror screen for the backup camera and it sucks. My uncle's 2012 Tundra SR5 also has one and it is okay, but the screen is too damn small and the camera points too far downward in my opinion. Also the camera is useless if you need to put the tailgate down. If you can find a way to wire a double-DIN touch screen head unit to the existing camera in the tailgate handle, by all means do it.

Hell yeah Charlie, I hear you!

My 04 gets regular compliments when stopped, at gas stations, etc. Keep that bad boy and we need to find a license plate frame that says "No, its not for sale" LOL!

BTW, I like your truck's color. Lots of whites, blacks and reds rolling around but Silver looks cleanest the longest!

Now its time for you to spring for a new bumper (BAMF anyone) ;)
