Yeah ever since the OP backed out graciously.. prolly a good choice on his part.

    So where are..... Ta Da

    THREAD REVIEW:

2 fine folks got a time out for bad behavior (there may be more but I haven't finished yet)
    OP leaves after page 3
Leaving the rest of us to argue amongst ourselves.

    And.... wait for it............

..But totally in control because of crawl control.

This forum is a shit show. These threads nearly always turn out the same. Someone makes a thread title with some sort of claim and after short order facts come out and what really happened is unrelated to what the thread title implied but the thread title will never be corrected so for eternity people will see that thread title and think there is some issue with crawl control that could cause your truck to break when that isn't the reality at all.

Anyone who thinks Toyota should pay for this repair is a an asshole. Put down the Care Bear and except responsibility. Toyota should cover this repair like they should cover someone cracking their bumper navigating between rocks. FFS.

A truck bogged down in a pile of sand is a pile of sand regardless of a parking lot, a beach or in the middle of the Sahara.

My point is, if Toyota thinks that you should not use crawl control in sand or on a beach - then don't advertise it as such or do customer / press demos showing that.

Show it picking up knick knacks for the old folks home instead if that's what Toyota sees as acceptable use.

Ok, last post on this, didn't have time to argue since I actually have work to do at work. And im over it. The We could have used the treds, but it was much easier just to winch out at that point. I did blow a bead on the tire winching out (it was done at an angle due to only safe ground available.) this the spare. And we were actually going from a town (el golfo) to our campsite 30 miles down the beach but hit some quick sand that just got the truck stuck. We were not gunning/pre-running anything or being reckless, just driving back to our camp. Done.

Karma is for the next life and there ain't one. In theory I agree with your ethics in this situation and I own my fuck-ups (but I don't pay dealer prices to fix 'em either)

But in all things... never offer more information than necessary to achieve your goal. When an officer pulls you over and asks if you know why ... just "why no sir, I do not". Saying things like "I was drinking a lot and maybe speeding... oh and there is a corpse in the trunk!" is not the smart play. Opening a conversation with your SA by saying "I was wheeling on a beach in MX" .... see where I'm going here?

I just read this thread in the past hour.
I don't know how hard he was beating his truck , but I don't think packed sand should have been able to break that.
I worry about a disabling part being in this position.
    I think it's a Design/Engineering/Material issue.
