Chances are that if they're at OP's truck they're working on it and not monitoring the radios. Just a thought...

I used low heat and took 2hours to weld them up. In all honesty I was worried about too little fusion and it wasn't going to strengthen it. It is possible that I did fuck it up, I'm human after all.

Did you torch heat the spindle before welding? They are cast so they need preheated before you weld them. Otherwise you make them brittle.

LOL well i am looking at the wrong thing then. They are probably at the truck then.

This would suck if something happened to the recovery group which I doubt, but if something did happen I'll be on standby. What better excuse to head back to Saline Valley than to help out fellow TW's!

At this point I think it's safe to say

    1. Tracking from APRS isn't working. Last updated over 12 hours ago and showed them south of Ridgecrest.
    2. We know that they obviously made it past Ridgecrest because they posted about being in Bishop
    3. 395 has consistent cell service. Straight to voicemail is a good indication they are out of range.
    4. It's a LONG way to Steele Pass regardless of which way in. South Pass is snowed in but has been plowed. Still a mushy mess. North Pass is snowed in. Reports of Steele Pass being heavily covered in snow has also been reported on other forums I frequent. All this is going to slow down transit times.
    5. 2 trucks - both well equipped. Both guys who appear to know what they are doing. I'm sure they're fine.
    And now we wait.

Thats kinda what I'm thinking, @blackhawke88 and myself hit some patchy snow and ice that came up fast a few years ago coming from the North Pass. It was well past midnight when we went through to.

I don't know mach375, but I do know Greg, he can handle snow. Both trucks look to be very well set up to handle whatever comes their way.
