    No, it is a legitimate class action lawsuit and settlement. Final judgement will be rendered sometime later this year (currently scheduled for June 26)...

    Got mine today in the mail. I have some other recall/TSB work to be done as soon as parts arrive, will be interested to hear what the dealer says when I show it to them. On the phone they said they knew nothing about it.

    I got 2 post cards - one for a 2005 Tacoma that I owned from 2008-2011 and another for my 2008 Tundra that I owned from 2011-2016.

    I just want my $20 from the settlement lol.

    i got the same post card, My frame is completely rust free due to being originally a southern california truck, BUT I'm sure when i move back to Ohio, it will desperately need the rust proofing coating because of all the salt....i wonder if i will be able to get it done for free...........

    With a 2008 you have--potentially as there has not yet been a final judgement--until 2020 (unless it was originally purchased in 2007) to have it inspected and a determination made. T'was me I'd wait until the last to have it inspected. If you do it sooner they may just spray it with "CRC" and it will be "all done" as the settlement agreement states--however if you wait 'til the last you will get at best a new frame if "perforations > 10 mm" are found; or at least shoddily applied CRC...

    They will either:

    a) Use them as a reason to deny any remedy;

    or,

    b) Work around them and do "the best they can" (which is of course highly dependent upon the quality of their staff) to get them reinstalled correctly';

    Overall I might prefer option a)...

    Unfortunately I bought my 05 in May of that year, so the 12 years is up soon. I guess I get only 1 year after settlement is finalized. Planning on taking the postcard with me to the dealership when they do TSB leaf springs and some other TSB/recall work. Then ask them to inspect frame see what they say. Anybody advise against doing this please chime in.

    I got mine in the mail this week.

    I say feel free to take it in for the TSB and while there, see if they're aware of the pending settlement, but as stated: they're not yet being asked to do anything about it, the card is just a notice, so I wouldn't yet bother asking them to inspect it because it'd just be an unofficial inspection that might cause more headache than good.

    Thanks, I guess it could only hurt for them to look at it now. They aren't aware of it as of last week or so when I brought it up over the phone. Maybe I'll bring the card and show it to them, person on the phone seemed to think I was making it up and told me it was way too late for any frame issues.

    It might not hurt, but considering they're not going to do anything about it, I can only see a premature inspection as a potential (however unlikely) reason for them to give you grief in the future. "back in early 2017 you had the frame inspected and nothing was done at that time, so why are we inspecting it again?" kinda unlikely scenario.

    They might be thinking about, or presume you're thinking about, the 1st gen frame issues that'd be well past due.

    As no final order has yet been published, and for that matter may perhaps never be (it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings), your local dealer may very well not beware of the pending settlement, or even the suit.

    So my advice would be to show them the card if you like, but if they are unaware of the suit, or even feign ignorance of same, just smile sweetly and let it go. There is no point in establishing an adversarial relationship before they have been advised and are actually required to do anything.

    Save the fire for later after they do a shitty job of spraying on the CRC crap...

    I definitely see your point and I will not ask them to inspect my truck. The original Gen 2 frame issue is well past due, that is what we were discussing and they were right as far as it went. They were unaware of the new class action suit and pending settlement. I can't see it would do any harm to make them aware of it, as they'll find out sooner or later. They are going to do a leaf spring TSB among others so they'll be up in there anyway. Truck has spent its whole life in CO mountains, lots of snow but no salt on roads here. Has just under 80k miles.

    Nah no adversarial bone to pick with them. They are doing like 6 assorted TSB's and recalls, including rear leaf springs. I missed the tailgate one unfortunately. I'll show them the postcard as a courtesy and then wait until final settlement is announced to get it inspected. By then it will be warm enough that all the ice under my truck will have melted (I hope) and I can look it over myself carefully before taking it in.

    I want to weld on a set of sliders but going to wait until this is all sorted out.

    The source in which you read that is one that publishes not "fake", but partially true and "potentially misleading" news.
    • A proposed settlement has been agreed to by both parties (proposed being the key word);
    • Objections to the proposed agreement will be accepted by the Court until March 27, 2017;
    • Requests to remove yourself from the classaction must be received by March 27, 2017;
    • Requests to appear at the Fairness hearing (on April 27, 2017) must be received by March 27, 2017;
    • A Fairnesss hearing will be held on April 27, 2016;
    A final judgement ruling is scheduled for June 26, 2017. This is of couse tentative as there could be objections entered and/or events at the fairness hearing that delay the final order--or perhaps even materially change the agreement, leading to another objection period and fairness hearing, etc.

    You can find out all the details here http://www.toyotaframesettlement.com.

    This is why Toyota has not notified dealers of the settlement; why get their panties in a wad (it's going to be a lot of work for them) and create potetential confusion over what the terms are when the fat lady has not yet sung...
