    improved toyota goodness.
I use 2wd lo a lot- way more than I thought I would going into it.
for the reasons stated above and others as they come up but especially for moving loaded trailers on our super steep and twisty asphalt drive and launching the boat... I hate to think what the tranny stress levels would be like if I did not have the 2wd lo option and was forced to do it in 4wd for the torque.
it gives me the option of lower gearing on high traction surfaces so that the torque converter is not constantly slipping and slowly grinding itself to death.

also boom: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2-low-mod-button-shifter.384746/ a write-up I did for those of us who have the same t-case.

Your supposed to weld around the inside of holes.

Actually you have to. Moisture will get in behind the plate if not

Edit: well maybe you dont HAVE too. But...

I actually asked the welder and he said welding the insides will be too much.
I didn't want to argue with a professional welder lol
Just sprayed it with under coating

I would fill it with silicone too......at least that way it will keep moisture out as theres no way the undercoating will penetrate all the way underneath the plate...just my .02

too much what? Contact to make it stronger? sealing it all off from water?

Yes, you have to watch your heat, takes a long time to do it properly but they should be welded.

I need something that can tow my toy a few times a year. the new 3rd gen can do that and still take me camping. current one is just to small.

Read up on the power train issues with the 3rd Gen.
I like my 3rd Gen but it definitely isn't the best for towing (My 2012 was much better, as far as midsized trucks go). Read up on all the complaints of the 3rd Gen and see if you can extended test drive one before you buy one.

My 95.5 is and always will be my favorite.

Got started on my auxiliary fuse box and relay mount.
I had to get my headlights and HAM radio hooked up before it got dark.
I will work on the rest tomorrow.

Weather was nice this weekend so put the spacers on. Looks a little better. Drivers side with spacer, passenger without.
