    There's this thing from Cravenspeed...

    http://www.cravenspeed.com/the-grab-bar-smart-phone-mounting-kit/

Just a different set up and doesn't look to have quite as many options as the RAM mount.
I'm still okay with my ghetto fab version I made for the time being but will upgrade eventually to something "legit".

That's more than the Ram mount stuff, I think I'm all in for like $40 on Amazon and a dollar for the bolt. Ball, short arm, x mount is what I'm running

Yeah, I kind of like the "clean look" of the other one which is less bulky but as long as the damn thing doesn't fall off when rot-totting out on the trails that's the main concern, haha!

Price-wise the two options are almost the same when you include the cradle, swivel socket arm and the ball mount (and screw, can't forget that). Shipping is free with Prime, though...

Yea, I'll agree, the cravenspeed option is a lot less bulky

That won't work. You need this one . The Marball in large or small.

Or you can buy just the 1" mob armor ball accessory that mounts to the holder.

For my phone, I've since changed to a Garmin bracket that came with my old Nuvi 250. Easier to use than the Akron clamp. :D

Just installed this myself, I used the short arm and have my phone upright but plan to get the mid length arm and try it sideways too. I also plan to email Ram and see if they will make an arm where the side slots are 180 from each other, it would help when you need two different angles.

    Pics of my install:

I have a plan for the charging situation, if it works out I will post up pics :) Thanks to the OP for the idea!

    A thing or two...
What size ball mount did you use for this? Also, what UltraGauge mount did you repurpose? I've been wanting to do this with my UltraGauge. I have a mount I can use parts from but the ball on it doesn't match any of the RAM Mount ball sizes. The UltraGauge mount is a 5/8" ball and RAM Mount's smallest ball is 9/16". I figure it will work but haven't bought parts yet to try.

This is all the mounts I used. I used a piece of mounting tape on the RAM gps mount to connect the Ultragauge. I just used the clip the ultragauge came with and put the tape on the back, then that to the gps mount. I also used a 65mm M6 screw for the extra depth of my handle.

The tape was going to be temporary, but it has been rock solid so I decided to leave it
