I'm definitely interested! My supercharger is being installed this Friday or early next week. I would need the Mongoose in a few days, right? I'll pull the trigger now because I need it and it would work on my 2016 off road.

If I could remove the BD mess from my ECU I may be interested in a mongoose cable.

Yep would work on all toyotas with the OBDII port so you would have multi uses. Reg price is $485 I think from tunertools. If you need right away and can afford it, I would order now since the GB appears to be stalled. @o0opackersfano0o was looking to sell one too, so maybe you could pick that one up and save a few bucks.

Even with the BD tune it will work. I just don't think it will flash the TRD tune over the top of the BD one, at least according to the dealerships it wont. All other functions should remain available. If I knew the TRD flash worked with the magnuson, I would have just gone that route to begin with.

Thanks, TacoCat! Yes, I'll go this route and avoid the BD tune and Stealership!! Wish I could wait, but I'll need it in a few days. This forum is awesome for information!

x2 on the TRD flash. I need to find a way to get the BD crap off of my ECU without replacing it first.

Thanks, I talked to him earlier about it. You gonna post in the Mongoose thread?

I was talking with some guys I work with and they were telling me that it would be smarter to go to a custom tuning shop after my supercharger install to have them tune my truck instead of having the dealer do a ECU reflash. Anyone have any advice on this?

Do those guys Know of a shop that can do a custom tune on a Tacoma? What hardware would they be tuning it with?

Well one guy says he has a buddy that works at a tune shop so he's going to get in touch with him to see if it's something he might be able to do. But to answer your question I'm not sure what type of hardware they'd be using. I may make a few phone calls around the area to see if anyone can do a custom tune. I just have never heard of anyone getting a custom tune done on a supercharged Tacoma. I've only heard of ECU reflashes from the dealer and of course the BD tuner.

That in lies the problem, only a very few have been able to crack the Toyota software code to edit the ecu. I only have heard of two, bully dog and the one guy on this forum who took his to a tuning shop. Without finding someone that's able to edit the ecu you are left with stand alone or piggy back ecus. Unichip, mapecu3 or ucon. All three have different features and level of support. Godspeed on your journey.

Ahhh ok. Thank you for the clarification. Are you able to use a UCON with an ECU that has already been reflashed by Toyota?

You mean reflashed as it has been flashed with the trd supercharger code? Yes ucon will work with the "trd flash". And actually even if you used bully dog it will work, don't quote me on that yet since I'm waiting for mine in the mail but gadget told me we would get it to work.
