They're going to drive back into town in the morning, get on their phones and read this thread and probably get an absolute kick out of it lol.

 

They may have been exhausted and decided to set-up base camp.

 

Sounds like a plan, if his wife isnt worried then we shoukdnt be worried. Ill be available if needed, everything is packed and ready to go. And there will be no problem for me to leave work at any time. I also PM'd you my cell number.

 

They are likely passing the bottle by a camp fire and eating hotdogs about now

 

I keep thinking I missed something or miscommunicated something over the phone.

 

Maybe they decided to give you a complementary service. Oil, A/T fluid, sparks plugs, and diff fluid all replaced at no extra charge.

You said you hoofed it 9 miles before catching a ride. Just curious, how far were you expecting to (or prepared to) hike to get back to a main road?

 

I had a backpack with a tent, heavy duty sleeping bag, 6L of water, and snacks. But I was just going to the hot springs that were south of me, I didn't know if I was going to be able to get a ride out or if a tow truck was going to be able to be called, so I was ready to stay at the hot springs for 2 or more days.
