Hahaha yes, very joker serious! I am not tech savvy. I only have Internet and had the tech set it up in the first room when entering the house with the PS3. The WiFi strength on my PS4 in my room is anywhere between 80% - 90% and I drop out or lag out a lot whenever I get a chance to game it up.

I suppose I could have moved it myself to see if it'll work. I thought about buying a long ass cat5 cable and running it along the walls and above ground into my room :D

Neither the PS4 or Xbox1 can connect to the 5ghz wifi, which is really disappointing considering how superior it is. The wifi antennas on those devices is terrible. Either get a home plug (not a terrible solution), run cat5e, or move the modem near the device.

If you feel like crawling under the house I will help you run a cat5e line in your walls (no exterior walls) and give you proper wall plate(s)

Yeah, a bit disappointed with it not being about to connect to the 5ghz WiFi. No crawling under the house for me...I'm claustrophobic!! Kinda..

Hahaha good luck with that!! She's 8. This girl still sleeps with a night light and requires me to leave her door open a little so the light from my room can illuminate hers a bit.

I received a good product as well, about 2 years ago? Slightly after this thing went down VVVV

This is why I went with Bama. However, I've also heard Bama got in some hot water recently? I don't know, I'm so far out of watching the rest of this forum...

If you have any to toss, I'll take them all. I love them, I convert them to MoCA bridges :) No slam on what you do for work, it's just it's the only modem I've found to be versatile.
Doesn't Comcast just use The ARRIS SB6141 (used to be Motorola)? I thought they used to for a little bit. I purchased mine separate. It worked great for the most part, but I'd get some really weird logs and it would barf/get picky.

FYI, if it's a 2 story, you have to get through the floor. I'm not a homebuilder person other than some teeny stuff I did with Habitat, but it would be the thing they are labeling the double plate. That's a lot of work. I had this problem with a duplex I lived in off of Denny Rd. The house was wired for network, but there was a dead wire that ran down the wall of the upper bedroom because someone had a, "Hey, I've got this great idea, I'll cut this hole in the wall and feed down this... hey, what the..." :p

This is kind of why I like my MoCA bridges and I'm so annoying about bringing them up

Well, I moved it and the wifi signal shot up to 100% on the PS4 but the "online" light on the modem didn't light up :( so no network connection.

his home is ranch style. i don't drill through sill plates (multi stories) but some business partners (mainly ones w/ licenses) do. most of the time can drill out and route down to the D mark.

comcast uses their own gateways. arris, technicolor, and cisco. they are good devices for the average consumer. but they don't do a lot of fancy things and definitely have more walls to get through to do things.

i'm glad someone found use for their modems. i don't take them from subscribers houses just because i don't want to be liable for anything. i don't know much about using moca for home networking, we use it for all of our "slave" cable boxes over coax. other than that, it's an unknown.

@Chickenmunga the double plate is often referred to as the header in framing.

@JoeTacoma02 I'm a WA licensed low volt specialist and have done my share of stuff. If Cody can't help you, let me know, especially now that you already moved your modem. I'm back in NE Oregon for work, so I can ride the 84 west right to you.

If I do come over, it will be to spend a night or 2. I think it's about 4-5 hours to PDX from my trailer, especially if the snow and ice is all over the 84. Pulling my trailer got a little sketchy in a couple spots of black ice south of Ritzville, and this truck doesn't have the traction control mess, so I can get sideways in a hurry.
Right now, it will probably be a couple weeks until I have money in the bank again to afford to go anywhwre.

Thanks and I'll keep that in mind Mike. I don't know if I will make it to PDX anytime soon. If I have a weekend off, wifey is likely to expect me home.
