Ford has had the internal drum parking brake in their rear drums for years, toyota finally caught on with the T4R in 03.

You have to use the IFS hubs which will widen the rear another 3.25" over the 66" that the tundra axle is. So it might be better to put this kit on your Tacoma axle and not have a too wide rear axle.

You would get another 1.5" per side so that mean's you need to squeeze a 3.0 on there.

I had one of those trusses sitting at the shop for my axle. After seeing your post I figured I'd run by the shop after work and see what it would take to make work. I spent about 15 minutes with a cutoff wheel and got it fitting. I'll clean it up a little more and add some filler plates, but it was really easy to make work

I just set it on the axle and outlined all the spots that hit on the back of the housing. Notched a few spots 1/2" or so. It's pretty self explanatory once you hold it up to the diff. I didn't need to any modifications to the truss where it meets the axle tubes, just where it sits on the back of the third member housing. It was extremely simple.

I have a set of 3.0 4 tube Kusters I have been thinking about how to get outside the frame of a 1st gen without going stupid wide with the axle. Or putting holes in the bed, I can cut the shocks down from 16 to 12-14ish to match my extended compressed needs but the size just doesn't fit.

No bead but I did cut some 1/2" washers and did the same thing, only cost a couple bucks.

    That would be sweet.

I keep going back and forth between just getting the axle built and under there and leaving it SOA for now.

Or just 4 linking it. I keep seeing some great clean 4 link builds. And it doesn't seem TOO hard. Just expensive. But worth it in the end..Then i am no sure its worth keeping the t100 axle and maybe going to a 9''.

4 linking does not bode well for expo/ camp trucks. Takes up all your bed space for shit and you will need to be 100% loaded when you get weighed for spring rates and valve stacks. Any more or less with change ride height. Leafs are made to hold weight, simple and fairly easy to valve shocks to work with them. A SUA can and would work well with a custom pack to the added LBS for camp shit. Prices to link yourself or a custom leaf pack are very similar in the big picture.

I'm SOA with 12" 2.5's under the bed and it works well for now. I will see after I get the Dcab/bed swapped on my xtracab frame. I just need to find more time to get some shit done, adulting sucks!

    yea it does.

I have had no complains really with my current SOA leafs and had planned on rebuilding my t100 axle with a truss and maybe disc brakes slapping in my 5.29 ARB diff. Then running some 2.5x14'' ADS double or triples outboard the frame with small hoops that just poke into the bed. Then reinforcing the frame and such while im there. Then drive the piss out of it haha

I know the whole weight thing with 4 link can be tricky..been one of the big factor holding me off..

Id like to do full race truck on Frankenstein and make my double cab the expo long trip truck...lots of money and time down the road...but that would be the end goal someday...
