Different version of a stock valve would be the two way valve you replace it with. It's identical just a different part number. First gens may be different but on the second gens relocating the stock valve does nothing. Like @Sub-Zero said it's a one way valve so a hot diff dunked under water could potentially suck water in through the axle seals

 

Okay good, seemed like there was some confusion on this topic.hopefully it's cleared up

 

I am pretty sure it may have taken me 15 minutes start to finish on the diff breather mod.

All mine is is an open barb lol

 

Open barb way up high is 1000x better than stock diff location

 

Wait it's supposed to go up? I have an open barb on the rear diff...
