Why hasn't anyone brought up that the tread width is 2 INCHES WIDER!! on the Colorado. I mean crazy.

I'm glad they included that 'cause that is the first thing I consider when comparing trucks.

You may downplay that... but considering how much money people around here obsess about 1" taller or wider tires on brand new trucks, I'd say it's relevant. A lot of coin dropped for the perception of small gains achieved.

I'd own one. I probably wouldn't pay for one though.

To be fully clear, I'd dip my balls in it ... just would never pay anywhere near that for a mid size.

I agree but its goofy to include that as a feature in which a simple tire/wheel change would make them equal. Not like an additional locker or motor specs which, to me, are relevant features.

If I remember correctly the ZR2 has a wider rear axle housing and longer front Arms to increase wheel travel. Not exactly the same as changing wheel offsets or widening the tires.

It's a geometry change, not just wheel / tire combo

I would assume them bragging on it being wider would be a way of saying it has more interior room too.

We've got some salty motherfuckers in this thread. You guys can act like the Tacoma is the best thing on 4 wheels if you want but everyone here knows the issues these trucks have.

The ZR2 looks like a decent competitor to me, on paper at least. Can't say much else because it isn't out yet. Say what you want about GM being a POS (I've made such remarks myself) but half the trucks I see on the road around here are 90's model 1500s that have been run ragged and are still hauling people and stuff around. Hell my first car was a 13 year old Silverado and I had no issues out of it the entire time I owned it besides it being ugly as sin. Same for the Impala I had after that. My Tacoma has been in the shop 3 times as much in the past 2 years than all of my other vehicles combined in the previous 10. The truth is I'm going to be in the market for a new truck in the next couple years and considering the problems I've had out of my 2nd Gen Tacoma and the general "meh" of the 3rd Gen it's not guaranteed to be a Toyota.

I know some of you thin-skinned hombres already have your reply halfway written about how delusional I am and how the Tacoma is actually Jesus' chariot but let me just head that off by saying I love my truck. I wish I had the money to do everything I wanted to it and a garage to tinker with it all day. But the reality is that as a DD it has let me down more than once in the past and caused no small amount of frustration when it hasn't. Some of it was my fault and some of it was out of my hands, but the fact of the matter is that it isn't perfect and I'm looking at other potential options.
