Bordom got the best of me a while back and I decided to remove the TRD badges on the bed of my Taco'. My buddy disapproved as there was not anything wrong with the stickers but overall I am happy with it and I think it gives it a really clean look. I know it has the TRD package with rear E locker, I didn't think I really needed to advertise it....maybe I just thought it would compliment the "poverty" base model front grill I replaced a little while earlier.
I found a few pics and I thought I would post em up. I got a brand new razor blade and went for it. At first it was a little nerve racking as my paint is in pretty good shape as far as I am concerned. I think I got a little ancy and I did actually take off a little paint on one side. I was a little bummed but I got over it quick. My Taco' has plenty of scratches and I added a really nice one down both driver side doors off roadin' a few weeks back.
I rubbed out what was left of the adhesive with a microfiber towel and some rubbing alcohol.

Looks good. I thought about doing it....but being a 1 owner vehicle, I kinda wanted to leave the originality of it.

Looks good! Use a heat gun or hair dryer next time and and you won't scrape any paint off. Ask me how I know! LOL!

Yup. Warm up the stickers with a hair dryer, and once you get then started, peel them straight back, not up from the surface. Less chance of peeling the paint that way...

I was going to do this along with removing the badges. While taking trying to remove the badges I noticed something strange. Even though I was using a heat gun it was difficult to get the first one off. When I finally got it off I found out what the problem was....... Some idiot before I bought the truck I guess decided to re-clear coat the truck. Sure not a problem and probably a good idea with the clear coat peal. Well yeah good idea but there is one thing you have to do first, remove all the badges and stickers. Well they didn't, they just sprayed the clear coat over everything so when I got the badge off you could see the entire outline. So there is a whole clear coat layer over my TRD stickers. I guess they aren't coming off.

I took all the badges off the tail gate also. I took a plastic scraper and started in the corners of each letter. With alcohol I was able to get rid of all the dirt that was built up around the lettering. I was a little worried some of that stuff might not come off. I also had a detail guy go over it for me, I think he used some clay bar.
Now I have a clean slate of a bill board....

Beautiful truck. Can you give some specs on wheels/tires and if it would rub on stock suspension. You in LA?

I did that as well. But - mine is not TRD. Previous owner had compensation issues. Lol.

Good year Kevlar MTR 32's and American Racing 15 x 8 wheels. I got 5 tires used from a friend with less than 1k miles on em for 550 bucks. I found the wheels on sale on tire rack for 85 each. I did the lift first so I don't know if it woulda rubbed on factory ride height. I think it might have rubbed a little on the lower plastic bumper piece when the tire is turned out at a 45 deg angle. I am in north SF Bay Area.

I would like to do that. It's in the future of my pickup for sure. I have the gauge cluster out of a TRD that swapped right in. Best factory tachometer for sure. It's 10k miles lower on the odometer than my stock but a little odometer fraud never hurt a Tacoma. Haha. I also need electric locks and windows. Isn't that a luxurious thing TRD tacos had as well?

I'd guess it was standard on the SR5 but I really don't know for sure. Mighta came standard with the front face lift models.

I thought it would be kinda cool to get roll up window doors and non electric door locks and drill out the door hinge pin and get a pin and a clip to be able to swap out to tube doors or run no doors out on the trails. I will probably never actually do it but it seemed like a cool project. I wonder if any of these at harbor freight are the correct size. I'd prob just keep my doors and try to make a quick disconnect harness for all the door wiring.

Nice truck. I'm in San Jose!
Hoping to install a lift on it soon. What set up are you running?

Edit: Think I saw you are running Eibach and add a leaf on your profile in the message area

Toytec 3" with bilsteins. Toytec springs on the front and AAL rear. I added the day star super shackles a while back. I'm really happy with it. I'd like to get longer brake lines eventually. The Toytec guys in Colorado were very helpful on the phone. I found a 10 percent off coupon online when I got the parts. It came with a front diff drop also.
