You'll need a custom tube layout to keep the tubes and resi line on the front and back of the shock or your tires will eat the tubes. IMO a 2.5 smooth body with the compression adjuster will work just a well for the limited travel SOA offers.

What about a short course style setup? Two tubular lower links, one upper link to set the pinion, and a panhard bar running the coil overs where you would of mounted the bypasses if you had stayed with leafs. You are setting the coils as far back as possible and should reduce the leverage effect from being loaded and unloaded. Not sure by how much though compared to leafs. Just my .02 cents, since I hate having leafs and could of done a link setup like this for a lot less than buying the SUA kit and 3.hoe bypasses.

    I know!

well yea id do custom tubes. Id want to tune the rebound though as well so just compression adjusters aren't what id want. Probably go with doubles and a resi.

It's possible not practical for most people who just want to go camping all #EAF and shit. A more purpose built prerunner it would definitely work and if Dcab would keep the shocks out of the cab, it's been done a few times.

I thought about keeping leafs and adding a 2 link set up ahead of the axle to run the shocks off of. I've seen it on older prerunner builds and it would work but not sure if the time involved is worth it.

Run a full 8 stack on rebound, DONE! tuned! To do it correct and make it effective you will need a big rebound tube to move enough fluid.

Giant has King add the 3.0+ sized tubes on his link killer 2.5 shocks.

    thats a big tube!

I haven't played with valving enough on my rig to really know what it would benefit from. Just figured having the flexibility would be nice.

on the topic of short coarse links, anyone ever see a reversed 3 link that the top links mount at the rear of the frame so you dont have to get a fuel cell?

@TRACperformance had one he was designing but not sure what came of it. Maybe @jeffz0rz can chime in.

14 flutter with 20 for the last 2 shims on comp and 8 on rebound. And that might not be enough compression valving depending on your shock angle and added weight.

    Lowered mini truck stuff mainly.

That doesn't work well for high travel suspensions, it will bind and have odd pinion angle changes at less travel #'s than a leaf setup.

a 3 link with a long panhard works way better and easier to setup and build.

saw it a couple times on other trucks. i dont want to run a cell but i really wanna do short coarse links with 2.0 coil and 2.5 bypass off the axle. if i could get the brackets from jeff that would be sweet

His daily driver link kit works well for what it is. But those little shocks on the axle takes a beating off road and will need serviced a lot.

IMO just build it from scratch yourself. And add a sway bar, you'll need it.

its just a daily, mine is no where near a race truck. 2.5 coil and 2.5 bypass would be more then enough for what i want to do on mine. we dont have a barstow main where i am so its not that big of a deal. i trust his work so id be more then happy to get the brackets and whatnot from him when im ready to pull the trigger

You can do a three link wishbone on the top, but instead of going full width of the frame rails for each side, you can have one go to the frame on the passenger side then straight up the middle for the driver side one. You will need a beefy cross bar setup but it will do the job.

    Refer to this post

The one upper link would be on the opposite side of the the OE gas tank and it would control your pinion angle. The panhard bar would locate your differential to eliminate the upper link that usually lands where your gas tank is. The lower links would be open to you imagination as far as if you want but seeing you want coils and bypass, mount the coil on the lower link and bypass on the diff.

    Then why link it?

62's and 2.5 shock in the rear will keep up with 'burg kit no problem and easier to prep than links. And kinda DD friendly.

i like links better, ive been in a 62" truck and didnt like it. im more comfortable with link set ups so thats what i want to do. seeing the 3 linked double cabs made up my mind of what i want to do. specially the one jeff did on the silver double cab and then theres the red double cab also with the same set up

i know they have trailing arms but down the road i can always do that. but im talking about the suspension in itself.
