Get the service manual from the parts store and your plugs filter etc online or from Toyota dealer. Get Toyota parts and do the tune up yourself. Save a buck and have the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

A tune up should definitely help.. one time I did a zero o sixty and it took over thirty seconds. Plugs, wires, filters and than I got 18 still slow but much better

my 99 2.7 drives like a wet dog also. mine has tons of blow by though. can i just supercharge a motor with low compression? iv heard that you need lower compression with forced induction.

I just wonder if any of these people actually drove it before buying it. It should really not be any kind of surprise to anyone who went on a test drive before plunking down the cash

But seriously, it's a 4cyl. It ain't no power house. I had a 97 5 lug with the 4cyl 5 speed. It did "okay" in that I didn't expect to beat a Lotus in the 1/4, and I got 28-30 mpg.

You running stock tires, is it a 4wd?

Also, why are you trying to start out in 3rd??

Definitely go thru a full tune up, though.

Negatory, ghost rider. A supercharged engine may have a lower compression ration, but that doesn't mean it has blow-by. Adding a supercharger to a worn engine with low compression means that the oil just blows by the rings faster.

He tried starting in 3rd to see if the clutch is failing, because that is the test in the link I previously posted.
