More like 15 games. That's a match on an official penalty in Canada. Looks like this is the USA so who knows. Anyways, I've seen kids sit an entire year for that. Heck a couple of years ago a kid I know got 15 games for throwing a glove at a linesman 30 feet away and missing him lol.

Classy move from Getz. Stepan is another straight-up player, so I'm sure Getz realizes that.

A couple thoughts on last night:

    1) Good thing Jackets got rid of McElhinney, right? Lol. I still say that was idiotic. Dude is a solid back-up.
    2) Like I was saying the other day, Budaj crashes back to earth, so he is by no means J Quick level (which is fine).
    3) No knock on Calgary but Pens should've won that game. There were at least 3 pucks that blew through CJ and hit the post in a crazy way. The Schulz one, Crosby's double-poster and Letang in the SO, off the top of my head. Tough one.

Doubt it, unless the owner wants another playing style implemented. LA leads the league in hits and can still shut down teams pretty good ... they just need to figure out how to score again.

The game tomorrow @ Florida should be a good one.

The owner will probably have a massive fire sale at years end before moving Sutter. I could see trying to move anyone and everyone besides Kopi, Quick, Doughty and Cartz.

Also, stupid new goalie pants. Probably cost Murrz another shutty last night. He had the body pretty close to being sealed off but somehow the puck squeaked through. I know that is exactly what the NHL was looking for, but I would leave goalies alone for a bit, moving forward. Too much tampering is just not fair to them. I think those types of goals will become more frequent now, since the purpose of the modern butterfly is to completely shut off the lower half of the net. The holes against the body are a bit more of a concern now, so the pants should accomplish the extra goals they are looking for. Plus, it just seems like scoring in general is up. Maybe not individually but as far as game-scoring it seems to be.

Look at those huge pads Gretzky had to shoot at. Im all for more scoring and eliminating oversized goalie pads.

I prefer new goalie equipment over larger nets. Realistically that was the choice the NHL was making and I think they have gone the right direction. .925 save percentages are something that only started to be normal in the last decade. They had to make a move to get the average save percentage closer to .900. Is it fair to guys like Roy to be in the hall with a career .912 save percentage when a guy like Murray could easily post a .925 career? I like the idea of adapting the game for the sake of consistency, and small changes to normalize goalies again while bringing up scoring is a great idea in my opinion.

I'm fine with the current change, I just think I'd leave it alone for awhile, after this last change. A few years back, I had the original Reebok Premier 1 leg pads and I think the P2's is where they had the new (at the time) slimmer width under NHL regulations. To a non-goalie it probably seemed like nothing but if you see them side by side, it was quite a big difference. Plus, they recently cut down on shoulder pads (which is fine) and now the pants. The sticks now are much better, with way more whip than back in Gretz's day. The game is played much faster too, but you just have skaters laying down in front of shots. So all of the goaltending equipment changes in the world aren't going to change that. I'd rather see wider ice surface or something done to the inner contour of the goal-posts as the next move (if there needs to be one). I wouldn't change anything else on the goalie equipment ormake the overall size of the net bigger. Just my opinion.
