Hyluxtek HID kit with CNLight ball bulbs

I cant find the posting anywhere, is someone able to post a link to the exact bulbs and ballasts i need to buy? i dont really trust buying from aliexpress. Also do i really need a relay? Or can i just put in a 20 amp fuse?

 

the relay is just $30, is waterproof, and fits right up in a few minutes. do it for peace of mind. there's nothing to it.

 

Are these the right ones? Theres no where to select specific bulb and temp.

They are still offering the Ball Bulb but it look like they are back to making you specify with them additional changes. At this point, not really knowing what benefit the ball bulb provides over others, the straight CNLight bulbs are still great, I'm sure.

And do the relay for peace of mind. I'm sure it would work fine with the 20 amp fuse alone, but are you going to be paranoid about the stock wiring?

 

Okay, i just bought the ones that I linked in my above comment. ill pick up a relay from diode dynamics as well.

No, not on this truck.

 

Gotcha I was hoping you might have had a good comparison, I currently have the LEDs.

 

Yeah, no real great comparison, but here's an observation in photos between LED and HID.

The LED (OPT7) on the left has no significant hot spots at this exposure. While the light is spread nicely, it won't throw as far as the light is not as concentrated in the center of the beam as the halogens are. While the light towards the edges of the pattern is probably providing a benefit over Halogens, I suspect they aren't able to throw even as far as the Halogens. The Halogens actually look over exposed compared to the LEDs, which is surprising.


Compare this to the HIDs and the light is much, much more concentrated and significantly brighter than the halogens and at the same exposure, way blown out.

 

Awesome install! How nice n the same hell did you get those ballasts so far down there? Did you end up taking your washer fluid container out and battery so you could install them?

 

i had to remove the washer reservoir. removing it detached the pump and i got washer fluid everywhere before i realized what happened, so plan ahead. the pump just pops back in easily, and the reservoir removes with just 2 bolts iirc.

 

Okay so I hooked up everything, I used the relay from diode dynamics and where it connects to the drivers side plug it fits snug but the lights wont turn on. Was i supposed to buy some sort of adapter as well? I just tried it without the relay and the lights wont come on either...

 

on the pass. side take a look at your wires. you should see something like this, where you see the polarity matching up. red to red, white to white. if you see red to white your polarity is swapped, and simply insert the adapter between the bulb and ballast and it'll match.



my lights came on no problem before i inserted the adapter. but my leads connected, so it sounds like maybe your leads aren't meeting. i believe the adapter helps with that. this is earlier in this thread iirc.

 

Okay, it looked like the pins lined up from the relay to drivers side plug. How can i make the leads meet up?

 

i'm working right now, but pretty sure there's a mention of it early in the thread.

 

Did you install the H11 to 9006 adapter to the relay harness from the OEM plug?

I bought some 6000k bulbs from the seller for 30 shipped so I could compare...for science!

I'll let you all decide for yourselves.

6000k vs. 4300k

I'm going to go driving here in a bit, soon as it gets dark so I can see if there's a difference in visibility.

 

Very interested in your thoughts of the light output and how you like the color opposed to the 4300k. I tried purchasing the 4300k bulbs but they're currently out of stock and the seller was trying to push the 6000k on me. I declined as I thought they'd be too blue and light output would suck.
