Tell them to build the truck for you not to search for one in their region. If gulf states Toyota brings in double cab short bed off-road manual transmissions and they can order you one with just a premium pack what they're trying to do Is sell you one that is already been built. The only requirement understand is towing package when you get the V-6

That's where I purchased a few weeks ago.

The GM at Allstar was a customer of mine and when I was shopping back in 2010, his deal was less than acceptable. Didn't even consider them this time around.

I was very happy with my experience at Team. Got $1600 off sticker on a SR5 + $1400 over avg. KBB on my trade. Salesman was Henry Majlesien in used cars.

    Good luck shopping!

It's odd. Here in the northeast central Atlantic all they sell is 4WD tacomas. No 2WD models and they sell the trucks often without any options. The only options on my truck was the towing package, tonneau cover, exhaust tip, and all weather mats.
They sell trucks up here with just the towing package and nothing else with an MSRP of $35,275 in automatic configuration for a sport or off road model but in Georgia where my cousins live they add clear coat paint protection film, those ugly pinstripes, and tinted windows to every vehicle on the lot.
It must be a thing with the southeast Toyota distribution and the gulf coast Toyota distributors because up here they don't force any options on you that you don't want.

I agree, most dealership will just search their region allocation instead of taking the extra step to help a customer get what they want.

Toyota base the type/model truck they sell in each region on two factors:
    - Predictive marking demands (that the marking staff feels will sale better)
    - Past vehicle sale history (based of how long/how many days it took a particular model to sell in that region).

Example, 2WD don't tend to sell well in northern winter regions and black color vehicles do not sell well in hot desert regions.

That makes sense, but things like color choices and certain packages or options always don't.

A good way to his email several managers of local dealerships tell how much you want to pay for the truck that you want first when it comes back with a yes will get the sale

There may be some truism on what the salesman told you about the tonneau cover. On the Tacoma price sheet that was leaked before the 3rd gen were being built, showed that 30% of all Tacomas had to be built with the tonneau cover to meet EPA requirements. So if you don't want the TC, you can wait for the next build cycle that will not have them as an option, or just buy it and then sell it here on the Buy/Sell Forum.

As anyone I’m looking for the best deal on an Access Cab OR around the North East. I would go to PA, NJ, NY, and MD. Any dealers offering a good deal around invoice?

The dealership in Uniontown, PA mike wood Toyota where I bought my off road sold mine $500 over invoice. You can haggle them down to invoice. Not sure how far of a drive that is for you. You can check out their site and they will show the asking price which is $2000 off MSRP but they have the click the internet price button which is another $1000 off.
You can check out their inventory on their site.

The internet sales person that ordered the truck for me just emailed me that the price went up by $202. Could he be just bs'ing me? im basing my numbers from navy federal's auto buying program which appears to $500 over the master sheet invoice price.

From what I've seen while shopping most of the trucks come with tonneau cover and they won't remove it. There have been only a few without or have to be ordered without.

Not entirely true on the bed cover. I saw one on a truck that was on the showroom floor and decided I did not want it. My sales guy took it off the order sheet plus took the $650 off the total price.

Anyone pay cash for their truck? Is there any leverage there or is it moot?
Do you hold out until the last minute, then hit them with "and what if I pay cash?"

In most cases, paying cash for your truck will not give you an advantage. In fact, the dealership would probably give you a better deal if you finance from them because they make money off the interest and/or extra fee for processing a loan.

Exactly, in fact if you were gonna pay cash you should probably agree to the selling price before even bringing it up.
