Just bought my first Taco. BOD 1/17/17 and drove it home on 1/21! Truck is flawless so far with a little over 600 miles!

Also I tried the ect button pulling out into traffic the other day and it certainly got rid of the "heavy" feeling it has most of the time. It got up and went.

Anyway I need to park it next to my '85 Pickup which is heavily built for rock crawling so I can get a "vs" pic.

Also the only "mod" I plan on doing for a while to my 17 is a camper. Then drive it like a grandpa and I'll use my 85 to get the wheeling itch out.

Love mine. No issues, swapped out tires for better snow/off-road capability, and added a Stormtrooper hitch plate. I'll probably lift someday, but am content for now. Can't stop looking at it when I walk away!

The only issue I've had with mine is trying to balance trying to keep a 35k truck clean and playing with all the TRDOR goodies!

wait can a second gen jump in here? :threadjacked:?

on a serious note, the 3rd gens have grown on me and I would get one if something happened to my second gen in heart beat. Either that cement or the black in a dclb all day long!

23k miles, loving mine and it'll only get better with time (e.g. the relatively care-free old truck ownership experience :p

My truck certainly has its flaws but all in all i like it. Ive taken care of most issues personally but a couple annoyances remain. I gotta respect toyota for offering a manual in so many trims in a day where manual transmissions are reserved for econo stripped models if offered at all.

I love my truck. It has a vibration here and there but so did the other 4x4 Toyota's I have owned. I have a basements full of parts waiting to go on it. Bilstein 5100's, OME 888 Springs, Deaver Aal , RCI skids. I'm about to order my SCS Ray 10's. I have to figure out what tires I want to go with. Either 285/75-16's or 255/85- 16's. When the weather breaks, it's wrenching time.

I had my share of rattles and so on. Fixed some myself and asked the dealer to fix a few and they did. I learned to blip the throttle at the right time with a manmual trans on a bike - at that time - on that road. Truck works the same way, rpm-wise. Motorcycle sez the high revs (reserved for when you need them, and then they grab and go) are where it's at and those low revs - must be crap. Dammit. Wish I bought a (wut) instead.

Love my TRDOR DCLB!! Came from owning a Nissan Xterra for 17 years. Loved that SUV too, but always secretly admired the Tacoma's from a far. Always said when it was time to replace the Xterra I would give the Tacoma's a try and have not been disappointed one bit now that the time has come.

Owned it for 6 months and its my first Toyota. The fit and finish is a dream. Love the engine power, off road capability and tech, and I can carry 4 people easy and as much camping gear as I can dream up. In the future I will also be able to tow a ski boat I want to get. To me the Tacoma really is the best of all worlds and its versatility is unmatched. Great comfort and driveability. Great function and purpose versatility. Performs amazing off road and reliability has been spot on so far, not a problem in the time I have had it (sans a few new car quirks that all my past vehicles have had). And damn the resale on these things is insane!! Still can't believe how these things hold their value over the years.

Trying to resist the urge to mod and lift to the tilt and just enjoy it for what is and what it can do in stock form, but this site makes that hard. But the blank canvas that the Taco gives one to do what ever they want to do with it in the future is impressive. I'm going to eventually build it out to be my dream overlanding rig. Hope to enjoy alot of miles and adventures with it over the many coming years.

    Happy trails everyone.

Just curious, what kind of MPG's are you averaging with the manual?

Maybe. I'm using the date on the door jam. When I called the dealer they had literally just taken delivery of the truck. In the pics they messaged me they still had the plastic covering everything. 2 mile on the ODO when I test drive it. Rockin'

    my girlfriend loves it.

Only problem I have with it is the MPG (which is partially because I came from a Jetta TDI)
and the lack of telescoping steering wheel adjustments.
