Been reading a few threads about it. Seems there is a TSB for it. Seems to mostly deal with the rattling, rather than the sloppiness. My tie rods had no play in them, at least not near the wheels. When I get a chance, I'll have to drop the skids and see if there's any play in the steering rack. Also, my PS fluid is black.

    Yep, AZ.
No, but my boss is running the show there so I hear a lot about it. It's a pretty neat project they way it's set up.
According to the seller, they are on the truck for less than a month. Based on the condition, I would say that was accurate. I bought boots for them and will likely not install them until the salt goes away.

I'm not too familiar with fj skids. Would an aftermarket skid cover that area?

I looked at my radiator, it does come down pretty low, but my skid and bumper protect it pretty well.

Some aftermarket bumpers do. All the skids stop where the stock ones do at the front cross member

Yea I have no protection there from my skid.... its open and exposed - about a 4 inch gap right up to the radiator. I was going to fab something up with some sheet metal but I don't have time to do it.

Tacoma cross member is in front of the rad, and the skid bolts to that. Strange they didn't do that on the fj.

Has anyone been able to get TSB repairs after warranty was up? I had to fight with the dealerships to do the work even when I still had a warranty.

Lol... My throw out bearing is screaming again. I had to fight with them to fix when I still had a warranty. I recently found out that there is a tsb TOB, I'm thinking they may have just put in the same as the original tho

I purchased a set of ramps for my snowblower tonight. I have a hitch basket with a ramp that works, but I've never been a fan of it. The basket shakes too much side to side and the snowblower can cause it to rotate around the center a bit too much for my liking, so now that I don't have the cap anymore I bought ramps, which I think will work out quite well.

The problem is with the OEM tonneau, my blower won't fit with the tailgate closed. So now I'm into my ramp project for the cost of a tailgate extender as I just had to grab one from the classifieds. I just really dislike the idea of having the tailgate down with nothing stop things from rolling out (not that I don't secure all my stuff when it's in the truck regardless).
