Sorry about the truck. And congrats on the baby! Got two little ones myself. Almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old (next week). Life changing.

Didn't seem like all that much, I pushed it all off by hand.

That said, my adjuster said the prior week he'd estimated for a Tundra that had a tree fall directly on the cab during a storm, and he said the cab damage on the Tundra was far less significant and severe than my cab damage was. I'm not sure what happened or the why, maybe it hit in the exact right spot? Either way, sucks ass! That said, she treated me well in our time together and kept doing so after she was pronounced dead.

A different choice of truck back in 2013 and I'd be telling a different story. Tacoma's hold their value amazingly in my area, and that's the win part of the situation.

    A thing or two...
Maybe it's the different weight distribution of the snow vs a tree. Snow gets heavy fast, especially wet snow, and it probably hits harder if it's all coming down in a pile. A tree I would imagine while still large/heavy is going to distribute the weight load a lot differently when it comes down.

If you have followed my bed/sleeper project....
I got one of the panels done. Double coat of Helmsman varnish. Outdoor carpet, from recycled bottles, from home depot. Marine grade adhesive. 3/8" staples, and the lay flat pull.
    Only 4 more to go.

It's the same down here. You can drive one for 5 years for free, more or less.

A friend of mine sold his '04 last year. Got what he paid for it.

That's a blessing and a curse the way I look at it. It is a blessing that they hold value when time to sell or a total loss occurs. But it is a curse when there is significant damage and the darn thing is still worth so much, your insurance elects to fix it rather than total it and allow you to move into something new. That was my case when I hit the deer last summer and it caused $11k worth of damage to my 9 year old truck with 100k miles, some of which will be forever visible and irreparable. I would have much rather they took it as a parts truck and cut me a check, but they refused because they said it was still valued at over $20k. If I were driving any other brand, it would have been hauled off to auction and I'd be driving something new.

Prepped some new-to-me maxtrac spindles for the first cost of paint. Not too purty, but will prevent future rust. Truck peeking in the background.
