So not bullshiting when it comes to the skid plate. I think it turned out amazing, its pretty much a hybrid between full prerunner design and the more traditional heavy duty skid plates.

After talking about all the options and first hand experience with other designs we decided to go with a lightly more gradual approach angle, while it does not have as much initial clearance it will better protect/defect against anything that I would encounter. Especially during high desert or expedition style travel, while still being beefy enough and having enough clearance for any rocky trail.

They did any awesome job and I gave them the ok to finish it up! I feel it does an amazing job tying everything together. There is nothing on the market that could better fit the truck.

One of my biggest fears when far away from civilization has always been damaging the radiator, it hangs low and up front on these trucks making an easy target. Stock skid did an ok job but this is going to be light-years ahead.

Next week will hopefully the front end going back together and rear coil buckets going in.

If you have a thing for matching center caps go for the dark grey color as they don't make light grey or black center caps. Sooner or later I'll look into painting mine because every once and awhile it bugs the shit out of me.

Anyone done an extended overland trip through South America?

Wanting tire recommendations as far as what was prevalent down there should anything go wrong. In 265/75-16.

I'm a super minimalist. I've read plenty, but any "I'm just glad I had this" examples welcome. I can fit everything I own in either of my vehicles so this won't be a doomsday everything AND the kitchen sink build.

Thinking maybe Coopers STT Pro would do well right off.

Just curious if anyone had any cues on prevalent tires in shops / on vehicles down there. For example if everyone down there locally runs BFGs it may be smart to just leave home with those etc.

Wouldn't leave until next winter starts. Just putting around the idea at this point.
