BTW, if you're around this Sunday, there's a meet at Riverview Toyota. SDHQ, Pelfreybilt and several other companies are all sponsoring it and giving away stuff. From 12 to 6 if you can make it!

Wow, I had no idea this would create so much buzz. I'm changing my oil at 5000 for all of the reasons that have been mentioned. I feel that I do harsh (city, stop and go, not always getting up to full temp) driving. I believe that when a piston moves up and down in a cylinder at 2000 rpm's the rings do wear into the cylinder and create metal flakes that should be cleared out. It may be old school thinking, but I still believe that changing oil is the single best thing you can do to maintain an engine (even if you don't change them, you should be inspecting your fluids). I believe that I needed seven quarts because the spec is for 6.2 quarts and that 0w20 is pretty low viscosity oil and if the oil level is even a little bit low, it's detrimental to the engine. I believe that because it's my truck, and because I'm the one vested in it, that makes me a better mechanic than some dealer techs that I've met. That's why I'm changing my oil.

Hell, I don't blame you. Im so OCD during oil changes that I start the engine for about 30s with the drain plug and oil filter off. Gets every last little bit of the dirty oil out. That way, when you spin a new filter on and fill the crankcase, its all nice and fresh. No metal flakes!

Are you sure you have clearance between the oil and the crank?

Slapped some dip on a cheap led light-switch and stuck it in the bed. Might put one on the other side for the hell of it.

Not sure I understand the logic. You drive your truck in America - You're an American - You paid for it in American dollars and, presumably, you like America. Fly the flag.

I ran one mobtown slider for a while too because one of the nuts they sent was welded off-center and I couldn't get it on. You can't see both sides of the truck at once, nobody will notice. ;)

Just in case anyone on here is interested in doing their first oil change ever, pjensen is joking. Don't do this!

I picked up a 3 packs of stick on led puck lights for $10.

Put one on each side and just push one when I want light.
