Yeah, it was a bad day, but I'm glad I learned early on how easy it is to get in trouble with vehicles. I still managed to get $2k for that mustang in that un-drivable condition (rear axle was bent). The guy that bought it from me fixed it all up.

Heh heh, that was my only mod. I think I bought a 5-lug ranger axle from a junk yard.

I had mine replaced at a local shop. Paint was chipped off antenna base and one of the wiper covers went missing. They sent me a new wiper nut cover and fixed paint on antenna. I guess I should feel fortunate that screw ups were minor.

Here is my recommendation. Contact your Toyota dealers body shop and ask them who they use. Toyota does not replace glass, they contract the work out.

I just had my windshield replaced last week - insurance job (Geico), used a local glass shop. They did an amazing job, they ended up going with the Pilkington aftermarket, comes with the Go-Pro mount (even says Go-Pro on it).

Sorry that your experience wasn't so good, hopefully they can take care of it for you.

The bigger deal seems to be how many of our windshields are breaking. There are other threads about it, it seems like Toyota can't produce/order these things fast enough. Something's definitely not right with these.

Pilkington is the OEM glass supplier for the windshield. Your's doesn't say Pilkington/ Toyota on it?

Never use Safelite. They make their own glass and it is inferior to other aftermarket brands. I used them when I had to have my Mitsubishi windshield replaced. The first 2 panels they installed were made by Safelite and both had distinct distortions/waves. The 3rd panel, which was made by a different aftermarket company, fit perfectly. However, the Safelite tech put a dent in my hood while doing the repair so overall I was less than impressed with their work.

I recently had my Tacoma windshield replaced by Glass Doctor. They used a Pilkington windshield (same as OEM) and did a stellar job on the install. They had 2 techs come out to do the work. The bead/seal work was like no other (it was a solid, consistent line throughout the channel). I highly recommend them over Safelite.

Interesting, I will most definitely check. I looked at the invoice I got and it was $639 retail, which I was told wasn't the OEM one ( I think that's over $1,000 ). I will check this new one tomorrow!
