OK, if the torque was not set correctly at 173 lbs-ft then there is a risk of damage to the bearing. Torque needs to be set as soon as possible.

You're absolutely correct. This was an in field repair to get him home. Hes got a daily driver. His rig is gonna sit parked in his driveway until this weekend when he can handle it all to perfection.

yup, and steel pass is littered with hidden rocks behind bushes and turns, you have to pay 100% attention to the road which is difficult with the amazing scenery around

Ill get a permit. What's with the skittishness of getting a permit? The Mojave permit is 60 duckets. Takes 2 weeks to get approved and cash goes to the cause. Lol. Good looking out.

I guess I could move the tires and lift to before the bumper and winch. Or wait till next time.

I have found my inexpensive and simple solution for adding APRS to my junk. This blue-tooth APRS TNC is essentially plug n play. With their APP along with my Wouxun hand held radio and with a properly mounted roof antenna I should have something suitable enough to put some ping pongs on the map. I already have plenty of coax and connectors laying around somewhere, and whats another hole in the roof for a properly mounted antenna right?

Here's the link for the Mobilinkd TNC
    http://www.mobilinkd.com/

    $64.95 for the TNC

    $9.95 for the TNC cable

    $37.95 for the antenna

$9.95 for the antenna to radio connector adapter thingy

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
    On for March.

Who's going to be new/ish to DV? I ask, cuz I can put together a good trip straight off my head.

Anyone up for Chicken Rock? Heeheehee...
Or do the loop Greg and I just did, throwing Bristlecone on the end? I know an amazing back way into Bristlecone...
    There's always Butte Valley.
I haven't done much exploring of West Side Road.
Hikes I'd like to tackle include Surprise Canyon all the way to Panamint City, Beveridge Canyon, others.

Oh man I'm gonna be a Debbie Downer here.

Chicken rock AKA South Park Canyon has been closed for a while. :(
West side road was closed as of last weekend due to mud.:(
And if you're talking about the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, it'll be snow bound for a while this year.:(
