Has anyone considered terminating their Toyota Tacoma lease early? New to Toyota, bought the truck purely on looks and got to tell ya, I hate how this thing drives. Transmission seems to be very rough with stalling and flaring, especially at speeds under 30mph. This is not a pleasant truck to drive. Got the TSB, did nothing. I am only a couple months and 5,000 miles into a 36 month lease, and I would love to get out of it. Paid around 40,000 and put 10,000 down, payment is about $200 a month still since they took my Jeep which I still owed on. I know there are going to be some fees for an early termination, but what should I expect... couple hundred, couple thousand dollars? Has anyone done this yet? I have heard Toyota is reasonable with you if you were to lease a different vehicle from them. Also, heard you can have another dealer buy the lease out from you, anyone try that? Anything will help guys, very confused and frustrated.

    You can sell it back.

I did it with my last truck. Dealer will probably lowball the crap out of you so be prepared to pay any negative equity you might owe. You might be able to get a little more if you buy another Toyota.

I did the kbb instant offer and sold my old leased truck to a mom and pop style dealer. They paid off Toyota and that was that.

Another dealership can terminate the lease if you buy from them. Dont expect to walk away with a cheque tho. Termination fees + vehicle reconditioning may take some money from pocket. Another option is to sell outright and just buyout the lease.

Worst case they can charge you the remainder of you payments and a termination fee. Best case use it as a trade and get some of your money that you used as a down payment back. Usually working with same manufacturer is your best bet. Good luck here's hoping you get lucky.

Read the fine print of your lease agreement and look at what the early termination penalties are.

and usually with tacoma's your car is worth more than the residual so you should be fine getting out of it. it'll be easier for you to trade it to a dealership towards another car since they can take care of the lien holder for you, and you'll get the tax savings depending on yoru state

Maybe buyout the lease, drive it to another dealership and sell it where they least know you?

I feel your pain my 2016 exhibits the same issues you have described. I feel Toyota really dropped the ball on this design and quality control seems to have taken a massive dump. My guess is you'll take a several thousand dollars loss. That's about what I'd expect if you were to sell or trade it outright if you got down to the brass tacks on numbers in a trade deal.

It used to be a track bike. Got it from my buddy for cheap and made it back to street legal. Haven't been to the track yet, but maybe one day. I have too many other expensive hobbies lol
