Ugh, purchased finally. $192 for 4 strips and a quarter window latch. Got the outside AND inside felt for each door. Oh well. It'll be worth it. I'll post back on the install of the inside strips. Hopefully they're just as easy as the outside. Think I just gotta take the door panel off. Excited to get my Windows re-tinted finally. As I had to rip it off as it was peeling and scratching with the old sand paper felt. Ha.

Edit. And if you guys get em at the stealership, make sure you talk them down on price. They'll try to upcharge you if not. They do me every time I've purchased something. They'll usually work with you a lil on it if you ask. At least the dealer I go to. Originally it was $200+ for what I wanted.

Got all four strips installed today. I ended up taking the door panel off and even removing the window. But only because I had to scrape off the old tint adhesive. But it did make things easier. Plus I wanted to clean up all the internal window guides and lube the regulator. It was all dirty in there from the lack of proper sealing, mostly due to the old felt strips which were in horrible shape. Not sure if there's any other issues that need addressed to help keep the elements out. Like the plastic moisture sheets. Calling it good for now though. Will keep an eye on it though. Not sure if it'd be worth it to put new sheets in or not. Anyways, install was pretty easy all around. The inside strips were even easier. The door panel does need to be removed. You might be able to just pop it loose and let it hang and install the strips, but you're that far anyways so might as well remove it completely. The strips are only held on by some flexible metal tabs that are inserted into the metal bracket, and bent over. Very easy. You just lift up on the strip to loosen the little metal tabs, and can bend them straight by hand, then remove. slip new one and and bend the tabs over. done.. The outside ones were trickier. I had to wedge a pry bar on the underside of the chrome piece with a rag to prevent scratches, and keep wedging and pulling. Driver side i ended up mangling all to hell. Finally popped it off. Passenger side i just gave it a good OOMPH when yanking it up and the whole thing popped off. Aligned the little white tabs, and popped the new one on.

I have an extended cab where the rubber is flaking off pretty badly on both sides. Now it's basically just a crumbly and flakey shell of its former self. 20 years in the California sun hasn't treated the truck well (the clear coat is flaking off badly on the roof and hood as well)

Just got off the phone with the Toyota AutoNation in Hayward, the parts guy wanted $49 each (outrageous!) I could buy both online on eBay for 80 dollars shipped (roughly $40 dollars each) I told him I'd think about it and I was about to hang up when he said "If you are not comfortable with that price I can give it to you at wholesale price) He went down to $35, then eventually went down to $32.21 each (a user on this post said they got the parts for about $30 each so I was happy) and he placed an order for it. He said it's a special part so it'll take two days, so I'm picking it up on Friday.

All in all I got both of them for $64.62, and with California's 10% sales tax my grand total was $70.92.

If they give you an outrageous price initially you can haggle with them! He originally wanted $100+ for both parts but talked him down to $60. As @NightProwler said, they WILL try to upsell you. I don't know if all stealerships do this but my local one did. Be smart and get a good price.

I replaced all 4 of my outside strips.....Just curious I started having a leak in my back passger door. Going to replace the vapor barrier tomorrow due to the fact that bottom of the butyl has come loose. Just curious how much water is supposed to be in the inside off the door....Needless to say I was using a water hose today however it was a good bit inside the door. Just curious if maybe I have the outside strip not installed properly. I made sure all the white clips were in the correct groove....

Well there's gonna be SOME that gets in. I noticed at the front and rear (ends) of the outside felt strip, it's kinda not sealed very good. But, that's what the holes in the bottom of the door frame are for. Not sure how much the sheets help. Kinda wanna redo them myself. I've got butyl rubber too. I wonder what kind of sheeting to get though. Maybe that stuff they use for putting under gravel to keep rain and moisture from seeping through the gravel and growing weeds. It would have to be something heavy duty though. I'd imagine theyd charge an outrageous price for the oem sheets.

But these sheets are for what, exactly? What's their purpose? They're called moisture sheets.. So I assume it's just to help keep the air and moisture from entering cab, right? I get a draft of air coming through the window control box. Thought about lining that with a thin layer of strip foam and call it good. Again I'm not convinced it's worth it to do the sheets.

Or were you saying you got water all throughout, like through to the door panel inside?

It was enough to drip over my bottom door seal. You can see droplets on the inside of the plastic...I removed my door panel and that's where I found the breach in the butyl material at the bottom of the door. Rained all night and I got probably a .5 ounce of water in the floor board. Been chasing leaks for weeks. Even had one from my back window. Just replaced the gasket for it last week due a leak down the back wall of my cab. Fixed that one to find yet another..

This is where it leaked at and is enough to go over the plastic.... Especially with the water hose test

    Hm. Interesting. :notsure:

I have no sheeting on the driver side at all. And now half on the passenger side as it was falling off And I ripped that half off. Ha. And the entire time I've been running with basically zero felt strips, never had a leak like that. I'd occasionally get some down there around the rubber, but not actually inside further than that. I'd assume I'd be eliminating that moisture with my new strips. Guess we'll see next car wash or rain.

Yeah I am gonna take my strip off while I am doing everything else just to make sure it's seated enough. Water hose it again...

Idk if I just can't see it, but looking at your pic again, I don't see any on the plastic running board. I see some in the door frame. And the rubber has moisture. I think that is normal. You WILL get water sprayed in through the door frame, especially when forcing water in the cracks around the door, and that'll create moisture on the rubber. As long as it's not getting past the rubber you should be good. But you said it was 'dripping down', so idk exactly where it would be leaking like that if so.. Unless it just LOOKS like it is dripping. I would assume you have a gap or something in the door frame stripping. Because up top, you've got the gutter to let that channel the water down to the front.

There's also the rubber strips up top, that slide into the rain gutter iirc. Have you checked those?

Yeah that pic was from a few days ago....I have had the carpet pulled back since then. I can sit inside and see it coming in over that piece. That's why I took the door panel off and can see the drops coming through the butyl black sealant. My door gasket seems to be in pretty good shape. I did have Yakima towers on the roof but removed them thinking that was the cause.

Hm. Idk mang. Seems like a lot of water to be coming from that spot. I wouldn't have thought water would actually get in that far. I still don't think water should even be coming close to that. It kinda sounds like your felt strips aren't creating a good enough seal and it's dripping straight down from the window.

I noticed that on one of my new strips, it's a lil bit deformed in one area on the very top felt piece, and wasn't sealing completely in that spot against the window. But figured it would be ok as there's two felt pieces/strips on each strip. Hoping with the heat of the sun it'll kinda straighten out... And I just got tint so gotta wait a few days anyways before I can even roll it down or inspect it further.

Alright. Well good luck anyways. Ha. Just trying to help ya out. Been in the door panels quite a few times now so just trying to think of all the possibilities. I'll be keeping an eye on mine now. Lol.

Looks like I was mistaken, they were originally asking almost $60 dollars EACH! I ended up getting them for half that so definitely do your homework and work with them for the best prices if you plan on buying from the stealership.

I only had time to do my outside felt strip... The front part was not clipped in good. I also noticed a gap between my back door handle and the door....So another place water can get in. It was cool here today so gonna wait for the weekend as it will be warm to do all my other crap....
