Anyone mounted one on a Trail-Gear rear bumper yet?

Nope...all good. Depending on where that bumper locates the receiver, we would not need testing. Where does that bumper put the receiver?

This is a really common bumper used on this forum/1st gen owners. Built in class #4 10k receiver on the latest version.

The receiver is several inches higher and a couple inches further inset then a stock setup. I'm hoping that it would work with a 33x10.5 and guessing that the hi-lift attachment would not though?

    Here is the bumper: http://www.trail-gear.com/product/4899/rock-defense-rear-tacoma-bumper#.WJx5FtIzWUk

Here is a link to many photos: https://www.google.com/search?q=tra...=926#tbm=isch&q=trail+gear+tacoma+rear+bumper

I was really hoping someone on here had already tried this.

The Hitchgate Solo would be the call on that bumper. The Solo HC would not work with tailgate. IMG_2500.jpgIMG_2501.jpg

Wow thanks for looking into it! That however is not the Trail-Gear bumper in question, I think that might be the Marlin? That bumper/receiver stick out at least 3" further from truck then the TG does.

Still think the TG would work with the standard solo?

here is the TG (not current gen but you get the idea): https://goo.gl/images/K8feru[IMG]

Yup...the standard Solo would still work here....it has a max reach of 4.5"....the big deal is how high it sits...only 2" above the hitch making it work with these high set bumpers. The Solo High Clearance etc would prevent tailgates from dropping completely.

Ok so I took this pic and measurement to just triple check this will not interfere with my tailgate when open. It's 4" from the top of receiver box to bottom of my tailgate when open/laid down. Please verify that the Hitchgate Solo will in no way interfere with it, so I can complete my order!

Verified!! The Solo extends only 2" above the receiver. You'll have clearance for days!

    Best thread ever

Thanks to @Unchained 5150 do we still get hookup price?

@ewxlt66 - since I am lOcal, is it possible to stop by in person to look over all options to see what will work best on oem bumper/oem trailer hitch on 1st gen tacoma that also has camper shell ?

Hit up Unchained for hook up help.

You could stop by, but we don't have a display room, just a fab shop.

With OEM bumper/hitch, you're best served with a high clearance Solo since the hitch is underneath the bumper.

Below is a standard solo. The high clearance will raise that horizontal support arm 4" higher so it's more inline with the bumper.Solo Toyota 4Runner Gen3 4.jpg
